Job Description:
Title: Residential Coordinator (RC) / Residential Life Coach (RLC)Department/Location: Student LifeOrganizational Relationships: Reports directly to the Residential Operations Manager & Belonging and Equity Specialist; works closely with all Student Life staff.Summary: The RC lives in the student house and works to assist the Dean of Students in the implementation of College Wide and Student Life Learning Outcomes. Through example, education, and mentoring, an RC encourages students to grow spiritually, in moral courage, and as global thinkers and healers. The RC models spiritual engagement and nurtures a spiritual atmosphere both within the house as well as across campus and is most effective with a deep commitment to Christian Science. RCs also provide essential student well-being support, helping students access appropriate resources on and off campus. All RCs acquire Life Coaching certification to have a common professional skill set that supports our students. Once certified, RCs are promoted to Residential Life Coach (RLC) status and receive an increase in pay. New RCs do not begin Life Coach courses until their second year in the position. Applicants with Life Coach certification that meets certain certification standards, may be considered for RLC status immediately upon hiring.   • Lives in RC apartment in the house; offers open office hours at least three times a week for a total of 12-15 hours, and responds to emergencies;
  • Devotes time each day to metaphysically support The Principia;
  • Attends Christian Science programming on campus and provides in-house spiritual programming.
  • Conducts in-depth one-on-one sessions each semester with each student as a foundation for on-going relationship building;
  • Alerts and responds to student mental, physical, emotional, and spiritual care needs, helps students learn about and access on and off-campus well-being resources, and provides coaching and mentoring to students as needed;
  • Actively supports, participates in, and contributes to Student Life programs across the campus.
  • Develops house-specific programs that support character unfoldment, student resilience, life skill development, and social issues education in collaboration with the Spiritual Life and Wholeness Programs;
  • Supports house governing board in organizing house activities and events for the purpose of building relationships with students and to help create a sense of community and a healthy house culture;
  • Advises the student house governing board; actively supports leadership development of the board;
  • Hires, trains, and supervises student House Manager; works with other departments to insure house maintenance/safety;
  • Facilitates weekly treat nights;
  • Supports student academic success;
  • Working with the house governing board, develop and implement a plan to improve adherence to and understanding of the Student Code of Conduct;
  • Actively enforces the Student Code of Conduct; serves as student support during disciplinary processes.
  • Facilitates house discussions as needed or required by the department or institution;
  • Develops and teaches/leads Foundations of Character and Community Seminar modules as outlined in the College Catalog.
  • Maintains records and reports for the house and Student Life;
  • Attends all Student Life meetings, retreats, and professional development.
Special Requirements
  • All family apartment occupants must abide by Principia's community standards
  • Must obtain Principia College's 15 passenger van certification within three months
  • Must obtain First Aid, CPR, and Epi-Pen certifications within three months
  • Remain up to date on issues and treatment related to mental health and suicide prevention
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Active Christian Science Mother Church and local branch church membership
  • Christian Science class instruction
  • Bachelor's degree; At least five years of professional or life experience
  • Computer literate; working knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Experience with college residential life or college students, preferred
