Job Description Roundabout is one of the leading charities in Sheffield, working with young people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a young persons residential hostel and make a positive difference to young peoples lives.
**RESIDENTIALHOSTEL NIGHT WORKER**
**Salary: 21,193.00 per annum - 37.5 hours per week Ref: RNW 10.21**
At Roundabouts 24 hour hostel we are looking for an enthusiastic worker to be part of a Waking Night Team. The role includes working a shift pattern of waking nights, working as part of a team to support vulnerable homeless 16-21 years old young people. As a residential night worker one of your main responsibilities will be to manage the group dynamics to safeguard young people and staff. There is also a requirement for you to engage young people with meaningful activities, life skills and promote a routine for positive engagement i.e. work placements or college, in line with Roundabout working towards becoming a Psychologically Informed Environment.
The successful candidate will have experience in supporting young people in an accommodation setting, patient and have the appropriate skills to manage challenging behaviour and defuse potential incidents. You will need to be motivated to work with young people who have faced difficulties in their lives and work with them to identify their own support needs and goals.
It is important that the successful candidate has excellent communication skills and empathises with the issues that affect our young vulnerable residents, whilst contributing towards creating a welcoming and friendly environment and having the ability to engage with young people and encourage positive behaviour.
The successful candidate will be passionate about helping young homeless people to live in a positive environment. This work includes working a shift rota that includes some weekends and public holidays.
