Job Summary

The Residential Supervisor oversees performance and quality of the therapeutic services provided by program staff. This position ensures the efficiency of the day-to-day program operations including scheduling staff, hiring, training, regulatory compliance and safety of individuals, families, and staff.

Essential Job functions

+ Supervise staff, including but not limited to, scheduling, hiring, training, and performance management.

+ Implement participant treatment goals and objectives efficiently and effectively with staff in collaboration with treatment team.

+ Train direct reports to engage with individuals by creating emotional and physical safety and security.

+ Maintain staff schedules to ensure adequate coverage and compliance with current policies and regulations.

+ Ensure and oversee that staff are provided ongoing development of professional skills to enhance their ability to assume a wider range of responsibilities

+ Organize and communicate youth schedules and routines.

+ Facilitate team meetings and document decision and process changes that occur as a result of meetings.

+ Ensure a safe and sanitary physical living environment.

+ Manage and prioritize emergency situations.

+ Recognize and address behavior dysregulation including aggression and maintain training and proficiency in behavior management and Strategies for Crisis Intervention and Prevention (SCIP, including the use of physical interventions (holds).

+ Communicate with families, internal and external stakeholders, and funders necessary and appropriate information regarding individuals.

+ Develop, maintain, and update all required documentation for regulatory compliance and in alignment with agency protocols in a timely manner.

+ Follow established procedures for passing/administering medications to individuals receiving services.

+ Manage resources and spending to support a fiscally sound budget, including but not limited to, staffing resources and utilization, revenue streams, i.e. SSI/SSP, SNAP and Federal Meal reimbursement, petty cash resources, food and supply costs.

+ Maintain service recipients' personal spending accounts, and ledgers.

+ Collaborate with Manager to support internal and external intervention, communication, reporting and documentation of incidents, as required by policy and procedure and regulatory compliance.

+ Partner and collaborate with external day program opportunities for service recipients, including school districts and school settings, and OPWDD certified day program settings.

+ While this job description covers many aspects of the role, employees may be required to perform other duties as assigned.

Shares accountability when delegating and involves staff in setting their performance goals.

+ Governance: Ensures Hillside policies, procedures and all applicable governmental laws/regulations/guidelines are followed. Makes decisions and has authority to implement decisions in conjunction with the leadership structure of the given area of responsibility.

Education & Experience

+ High School diploma or GED required.

+ Minimum 2 years of related work experience required.

+ Minimum 1 year of leadership experience required.

Special Requirements

+ Successful completion of Approved Medication Administrative Personnel (AMAP) training to meet the health needs of the individuals in care.

+ CPR certification required or obtained within 60 days of hire.

+ Unrestricted, valid NYS driver's license for minimum of 1 year with a clean driving record and minimum insurance coverage that meets agency standards.

+ Able to maintain learning, including acquiring, understanding and interpreting information in subject areas for position must be demonstrated on the job

Physical Demands & Work Environment

+ Must be able to work a variable scheduling including evenings and weekends

+ The following physical demands are required:

+ Occasional sitting (up to 4 hours)

+ Occasional standing (up to 1 hour)

+ Occasional walking (up to 2.5 hours)

+ Occasional driving (up to 8 hours)

+ Continuous balancing (up to 8 hours)

+ Occasional balancing, bending, stooping, climbing, kneeling, pushing, pulling, reaching forward or down, reaching overhead, running, and twisting (up to 2.5 hours)

+ Weekly lifting up to 50 lbs. (community-based staff may be required to lift an empty wheelchair weighing up to 50 lbs.), 10-15 lbs. on a daily basis

+ Weekly carrying up to 55 lbs. approximately 10-100 ft., 10-15 lbs. on a daily basis

+ Manual dexterity is required, including the frequent ability to grasp in both hands and continuous use of fine manipulation skills in both hands (approximately 1-2.5 hrs.).

+ Occasional exposure to changes in temperature, dust, fumes, gases or chemicals is apparent.

+ Protective clothing or equipment as required: close toed shoes; protective shields, universal precaution PPE, and gloves for toileting and food preparation.

+ Ability to change positions as needed.

SPECIAL CONSIDERATIONS

+ May be required to physically restrain clients weighing between 50 and 300 lbs. and guide them safely to the floor using certified techniques. In some circumstances, restraints can last up to 15 minutes and may require repetition as necessary.

$23.33 Minimum pay rate, $33.25 Maximum pay rate, based on experience.
