POSITION SUMMARY: This position is responsible under the direction of the Program Director for the day-to-day oversight, supervision, and scheduling of the residential shelter youth care staff. WHAT YOU WILL DO:
  • Responsible for peer oversight, scheduling, and clerical/record keeping duties.
  • Act as a mentor and role model for youth care staff through appropriate behaviors and interactions.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to lead and work within a team.
  • Provide floor coverage to maintain staffing and coach/develop youth care staff.
  • Maintain professional boundaries.
  • Oversee daily operations and activities of direct care staff under the Program Director.
  • Ensure youth care staff use the Youth Development System (YDS) in interactions with youth and guide staff in its proper use.
  • Assist Program Director in promoting cleanliness among staff and youth.
  • Knowledge of QA Standards and contribute to Quality Improvement at the shelter.
  • Monitor reports/forms to ensure accuracy and compliance with policies.
  • Schedule staff shifts in consultation with the Program Director.
  • Ensure staff adherence to YFA policies and procedures.
  • Administer oral medications per YFA policies and ensure proper staff training.
  • Assist in preparing 90-day and annual performance evaluations for youth care staff.
  • Maintain National Youth Care Certification.
  • Assign daily responsibilities to youth care staff as per policy.
  • Ensure timely completion of shift duties and address related issues.
  • Supervise staff and ensure cleanliness and safety of facilities and property.
  • Ensure transportation of residents as needed, per policies and procedures.
  • Oversee facility safety coordination.
  • Directly supervise Youth Care Specialists and ensure full staffing patterns.
  • Follow all agency policies and procedures.
  • Coordinate and may train staff to meet all training requirements.
  • Supervise Shift Leads and youth care staff under Residential Director's direction.
  • Work flexible schedule as arranged and approved by Program Director.
  • Conduct random shift checks as scheduled or as needed.
  • Perform other duties assigned by the Program Director or supervisor.
  • Trained and authorized to access protected health information.
  • Facilitate groups with varied dynamics.
  • Punctual and ready to work.

Location: 7522 Plathe Road, New Port Richey, FL 34653RequirementsWHAT YOU NEED: Bachelor's degree preferred, or associate degree and 4 years directly related experience with 2+ years of experience in a residential facility, or high school diploma (or equivalent) with 8+ years directly related experience, 6+ years must be in a residential setting. Will considers years of experience in lieu of degree. Physical Requirements: Requires a high degree of physical activity including the ability to run, jump, bend, stand for significant time periods (2+ hours), and lift and carry up to 50+ pounds.All Youth Development Specialists must be able to show proficiency at the conclusion of a six-month probationary period to include:•Completing a full intake packet.•Successfully manage loading and discharging medications into the Pyxis medicine machine.•Successful completion of mandatory Relias, DCF, Florida Network, and Skill Pro training within the specified time frames.•Successful completion of and passing Managing Aggressive Behavior training. •Successfully obtaining CPR and First Aid certification.•Completing all shift paperwork.•Completing all food service paperwork.•Managing crisis situations.•Communicating within the chain of command and utilizing on-call processes.•Completing screenings and providing excellent customer service.WHAT'S IN IT FOR YOU?At YFA, we are as dedicated to our team members as we are to our mission!
