Our Adult Residential Programs serve adults with chemical dependency and/or are living with a mental illness at one of our four different locations in Albany County. The goal of all our programs is to help the residents manage their diagnosis and build the skills necessary to live successfully in the community.
Holt House- Adults with both mental illness and developmental disabilities that need 24/7 support
Apartment Program- Adults who live in one- or two-bedroom apartments and are ready for less structure and more independence
Cohoes Residence- Adults who have a mental health diagnosis and need 24/7 support to help control their symptoms
Recovery Residence- Men who have both a mental illness and an addiction that need 24/7 support.
Position Summary:The Residential Support Staff is responsible for supervising activities of residents in single and/or scattered site residential treatment facilities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
+ Teach and assist residents with functional skills (budgeting, hygiene, communication, maintaining cleanliness of personal environment, socialization, etc.)
+ Provide transportation, cooking, shopping, social activities, day program, medical appointments, medication refills etc as needed on shift
+ Maintain cleanliness of the residential program areas (bathrooms, living room, office etc. As well as participating in snow and trash removal).
+ Provide accurate daily documentation for clients in Electronic Health Record
+ Increase resident awareness and access to community resources
+ Assist with building relationships with staff, peers and family members while promoting self-sufficiency.
+ Reports incidents verbally and in writing to Assistant and/or Program Manager
+ Represent and reflect the Equinox Inc. philosophy, values, and mission in the community.
+ Supervisor medications (support clients with medication organization, refills etc).
+ Attend all mandatory trainings as well as annual refresher trainings (Crisis De-Escalation training, CPR/First Aid Certification, Boundaries, Medication Administration Record etc).
+ Fosters communication, cooperation and collaboration between programs
+ Exercise good judgment

+ Other duties as assigned
Requirements
Physical Requirements:
+ Ability to stand for long periods of time
+ Ability to lift 20 pounds
+ Ability to drive a car or van safely, if required
Minimum Qualifications:
+ High school diploma and one year experience in human services OR Associates' Degree in related field and no experience in human services
+ Must have good oral and written communication skills
+ Valid NYS Driver's License for Day Shifts ONLY; Not required for evening and overnight coverage shifts
Schedule:
+ Varies on the needs of the program, which may include day, evening, and/or weekend shifts and holidays
