Position SummaryThis Residential Unit Specialist is responsible for the direct care services for individuals with developmental disabilities.
The Work You Will Do Daily and consistently implements approved and scheduled active treatment and skill acquisition programs for residents, including but not limited to activities of daily living, areas of self-care, socialization, recreation, leisure, speech, community awareness, and vocational/prevocational skills. Utilizing approved protocols and training modules to ensure residents' safety and privacy. Provides supervision and training at worksite, working with vocational staff to maximize training and attending to residents' self-care needs as appropriate. Adhere closely to the residents; daily activity schedule(s). Report's progression and lack thereof of the residents' goals and objectives to the supervisor and suggests improvements as appropriate.Transports and/or escorts residents to and from on-campus activities, community trips and appointments, including emergency visits to the hospital, to ensure their health, safety, and general well-being. Provides care for residents during overnight stays in medical facilities and other locales as needed to provide for the 24-hour care of each resident.Follows approved individualized behavior support plans utilizing approved strategies. Follows occupational therapy, physical therapy, speech therapy, and other appropriate therapy as prescribed.Implements appropriate recreation, social, and leisure activities for residents in the residential home setting, as well as away from home through center wide activities, community activities, and attending alternative leisure activities.Performs mealtime procedures by strictly adhering to each residents' mealtime program with the proper diet and the usage of necessary adaptive equipment. Assures that residents do not eat too fast, food is appropriately cut, and residents are properly positioned to avoid safety issues. Ensures that food is kept at the right temperature and consistency, dates and labels are accurately checked, and that food is properly stored to help avoid health and safety issues. Review's mealtime program information to ensure accurate implementation on an ongoing basis.Assesses and accurately inventories residents' clothing and personal possessions as indicated per policy. Reports any needs, concerns, and/or repairs to the area supervisor in a timely manner. Ensures that the residents' personal appearance is neat, clean, and that their clothing is well-maintained and fits properly. Completes the residents' Personal Possession Inventory as assigned for accountability.Attends to residents' injuries and illnesses by utilizing appropriate first aide procedures and following the prescribed policy/procedures with notifying the nurse and other pertinent administrators. Accurately completes Incident reports, behavior data sheet documentation, and other items that are required to be documented and reported in the designated location (i.e., logbook) within one (1) hour of occurrence. Maintains applicable policies and procedures related to resident injuries, abuse, neglect, and exploitation. Always ensuring the health and safety of those we serve.Provides and receives communication with staff on adjoining shifts regarding significant job-related information on a daily basis and documents such information in the designated location (i.e., logbook). Remains on duty until being properly relieved by the oncoming shift by the supervisory authority. Stay to work the next shift to ensure that the staffing needs are adequate for the residents as directed by the delegated supervisory authority.Completes all required training. Complete Enhanced Mandt certification within thirty (30) days of hire. Maintain Enhanced level certification throughout employment in Unit 2. Completes all annual and required health screenings. Also submits timesheets as directed and outlined. Performs other related duties as required.
Minimum QualificationsWillingness to be certified in Enhanced MANDT and maintain certification throughout employment in Unit 2
