Job DetailsJob Location Lee Canyon Resort - Las Vegas, NV Position Type Full Time Job Shift Day DescriptionGeneral Purpose: The GM is responsible for championing the vision for Lee Canyon, which will build upon the $17 million invested over the past five years while positioning it for additional growth. The GM will execute a long-term strategic plan for Lee Canyon's operational and financial success on a daily, seasonal and annual basis. The GM will lead and manage the team that executes all aspects of the resort's Mountain, Base, Resort Services and Hospitality operations. Essential Duties/ Responsibilities:
- Live MCP's mission, vision, and culture of putting skiing first, and giving people the freedom to ski
- Work with MCP Leaders to create the strategic plan for the growth and expansion of the resort, to include the development of the strategic plan
- Lead the resort leadership team in developing the short and medium term plans to move towards the completion of the strategic plan
- Lead the NEPA process to ensure that all appropriate requirements are met to enable USFS approval of proposed projects, resulting in the forward progress of the resorts the strategic plan
- Partner with appropriate external stakeholders to lead the development process on both public and private land
- Planning and management of Capital Improvement Projects
- Develop a yearly plan in place to achieve goals for the resort in terms of the guest experience, employee satisfaction, and profitability, with agreed-upon KPIs to measure those goals.
- Work with the Resort leadership team to create and prepare yearly resort budgets for approval with advice from appropriate stakeholders, including capital and operating budgets
- Assemble a team at Lee Canyon that can support the vision and strategic plan for the resort, and handle day to day operations of the Resort to enable the GM to focus on the strategic plan
- Mentor and develop the Lee Canyon Team to enable leaders to assume additional responsibilities. Preparing leaders for career growth and promotion to new roles with MCP
- Partner with senior resort leaders to set yearly goals for departments that align with overall resort goals, and develop KPIs to measure success in achieving those goals
- Be knowledgeable in all areas of resort operations, and provide hands-on expertise when necessary
- Be the resort champion with the community, government, industry, media and other important leaders
QualificationsJob Qualifications: Education or Formal Training: Required:
- Bachelor's degree or higher in business, management, or a relevant field
Preferred:
- Masters degree in business, management, or a relevant field
Experience: Required:
- Minimum of ten years in a management role in the ski industry
- Hands on management expertise in at least two areas of ski area operations management such as lift operations, lift maintenance, trails/grooming, snowmaking, patrol, terrain park, vehicle maintenance, ski school, tickets, rentals, retail, guest services, food and beverage, hospitality, facilities maintenance, real estate/property development
Preferred:
- Hands on management expertise in three or more areas of ski area operations management such as lift operations, lift maintenance, trails/grooming, snowmaking, patrol, terrain park, vehicle maintenance, ski school, tickets, rentals, retail, guest services, food and beverage, hospitality, facilities maintenance, real estate/property development
- Experience with working with the USFS and the NEPA process
- Experience working with developers on public and private land
- Experience managing large capital projects in a ski resort setting
