POSITION SALARY: $48,000-100,000+ depending on experience.
ABOUT THE POSITION:
This position works under the supervision of the district managers and coordinates local, state, and federal programs to address local resource concerns. This employee provides technical support addressing Wilkin SWCD's natural resource management priorities. Natural resource programs could include but are not limited to soil health, water quality, structural agriculture practices, and streambank or shoreline protection. All the duties and responsibilities will be carried out in accordance with the annual work plan and comprehensive plan priorities.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
- Market and consult with farmers and landowners on conservation programs.
- Work with private landowners to evaluate resource concerns and make technical and financial recommendations for best management practices and various local, state, and federal conservation programs.
- Assists with the administration of State, District, and Area programs
- Assist with developing contracts, easements, and conservation plans.
- Assists with planning, design, construction layout, and inspection of conservation practices.
- Provide technical functions to implement SWCD conservation programs and practices.
- Assists with the implementation of a water quality monitoring program.
- Assists with the District's tree planting and tree fabric programs.
- Assists with the District's planting and mowing projects.
- Works with cooperating agencies.
- Assists education and research programs.
- Other duties assigned by the District Managers and Board of Supervisors.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
· Experience in the conservation field and/or agriculture experience
· A valid driver's license.
· Ability to lift up to 50 pounds on occasion and work outdoors in all conditions for extended periods of time.
· Strong written and oral communication skills
· Self-motivated and able to work independently and well with others.
· Familiar with common agricultural equipment and use.
· Familiar with Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
· Bachelor's degree in natural resources, biology, agricultural-related field or applied science.
· Experience in conservation or natural resource field
· Knowledge with interpreting scientific data, collecting field surveys, and using field equipment such as a GPS or GIS
WORK ENVIRONMENT- Work will be performed in an office building and outdoors. Work is often performed independently.
