The position may be filled at the Resources & Reimbursement Agent Trainee 1 level equated to SG 14 ($52,198-$66,634), Resources & Reimbursement Agent Trainee 2 level equated to SG 16 ($58,247-$74,135) or full performance Resources & Reimbursement Agent 1 level, SG ($65,001-$82,656) based on education and experience. Candidates hired at the trainee level will be advanced to the full performance Resources & Reimbursement Agent 1, SG 18 following the successful completion of the traineeship.NON-COMPETITIVE MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSFor Resources & Reimbursement Agent 1:A bachelor's degreeand two years of professional experience conducting financial investigations, determining payment sources, and developing and submitting claims for the cost of care of individuals receiving care and/or treatment in State facilities and programs. Duties Description The Office for People With Developmental Disabilities (OPWDD) provides high-quality, person-centered services, supports and advocacy to people with developmental disabilities in New York State. The Office for People With Developmental Disabilities (OPWDD) Division of Fiscal Policy and Management is seeking a person to work as a Revenue and Reimbursement Agent in the local Financial Benefits and Entitlements Assistance and Management (FBEAM) to help people with developmental disabilities live richer lives. The agent is part of the FBEAM team responsible for securing Medicaid, Medicare, SNAP, Supplemental Security Income, Social Security and other benefits for the people with developmental disabilities residing in state operations. In addition, the FBEAM agent will also act on behalf of New York State Medicaid as a district worker, dealing with nonprofit agencies and the developmentally disabled individuals they serve. The incumbent of the position will:• Investigate and determine potential eligibility or continued eligibility for all financial benefits and assistance available to people with developmental disabilities. • Develop financial benefits and entitlements; protect and preserve assets and continue eligibility for financial benefits.• Maximize reimbursement by establishing charges and arranging payments. • Communicate with Central Office, DDSOOs, DDRFOs, other State and Federal agencies, community agencies, people with developmental disabilities, their relatives and other advocates.• Assist in financial benefits presentations and trainings.Telecommuting to be discussed at interview. HELPS Program titles may be filled via a non- competitive appointment. This means that you do not need to take an exam to qualify, but you do need to meet the minimum qualifications of the title.At a future date (within one year of permanent appointment), employees hired under NY HELPS are expected to have their permanent non-competitive employment status converted to permanent competitive status.
