Responsibilities:
Supports the goals and objectives of the organization and the division.Collaborates with the Nurse Manager, staff, patients, and families to assess learning needs.Plans and implements educational activities to meet identified learning needs, utilizing adult and child education principles.Develops and utilizes appropriate evaluation systems to determine the effectiveness of educational activities.Promotes collaborative relationships among health care professionals and community agencies and schools.Prioritizes, coordinates, and implements care for assigned patients within the scope of practice, utilizing appropriate resources.Provides and assists with direct patient care which reflects a family-centered approach.Participates in committees, task forces, meetings, and activities to assist in the development of educational programs, ultimately resulting in improved care and patient/family education.Participates in activities that promote professional development and enhance the practice of respiratory care and asthma education.Facilitates compliance with the mandatory educational requirements of the unit, department, and the organization.Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care for the physical, psychological, social, educational, and safety needs of the patients served regardless of age.Other duties as required.Technical Expertise:
Experience in planning, implementing, executing, and evaluating education is required.Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, coupled with excellent presentation skills are required.Ability to work well under pressure to prioritize and complete required tasks and responsibilities in a timely and accurate manner.Strong organizational skills are required.Experience in healthcare is required.Experience working with various levels within an organization is preferred.Experience working in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word) or similar software is required.Experience working with an electronic medical record system (i.e., EPIC) or similar software is preferred.Education and Experience:
Education: Graduate from an accredited school of respiratory care is required.Certification: Professional Respiratory Therapist licensed in the state of Ohio is required.Asthma Education-Certified (AE-C) is required within one year from the date of hire.Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association is required.Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certifications are preferred.Years of relevant experience: Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience is preferred.Years of supervisory experience: None.On Call
