JOB TITLE: OPWDD Respite Care ProviderCLASSIFICATION: Per Diem, Non-ExemptPROGRAM/DEPARTMENT: Guest Respite, In Home Respite IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: Respite Supervisor POSITION SUMMARY: Give guardians and care providers of people with disabilities temporary relief from their responsibilities by offering respite services. Maintain the safety, well-being and human rights of the people we serve. Assist the people we serve by offering instruction and verbal coaching in self-care in food preparation, community integration, social interaction, positive life choices, school work, and other areas of daily living. Facilitate meaningful activities for people we serve by planning and implementing games, crafts and other projects. Ensure safe and effective behavior management, responds to atypical/emergent circumstances by following established procedures and exercising good judgment. Provide documentation for rendered services.QUALIFICATIONS:Minimum Education, Training & Experience:High school diploma or equivalentDriver's license, acceptable driving record and dependable transportationPreferred Education, Training & Experience:Experience working with people with developmental disabilitiesFunctional knowledge of community recreational, social and educational resourcesKnowledge of crafts and recreational activitiesESSENTIAL SKILLS AND ABILITIES:Good interpersonal skillsAbility to promote an atmosphere of fun and socialization Ability to acquire and maintain CPI certificationAbility to appropriately utilize approved CPI techniques in behavior managementAbility and willingness to routinely transport in an agency vehicleAbility to meet all OPWDD physical plant requirementsSALARY:$16 per hour starting rateFull Job Description Available Upon Request Benefits - Intandem Contact us for more InformationAn equal opportunity employer.
