The Respite Companion position is a non-exempt position paying $16 per hour for up to 6 hours per week. Position is available immediately and has flexible days/hours. The office is located in Hempstead, NY and the role reports to the program's Coordinator. . Primary Purpose of Job: To provide time off for the caregiver of a home-bound elderly person. Principal Duties & Responsibilities: + Participate in orientation and in-service workshops. + Provide supervision and companionship on an individual basis to elderly persons. + Assist care recipient with everyday routines such as eating, walking and light exercise. + Submit records and time sheets on a timely basis. + Report any problems which affect service to the Sr. Director or Program Coordinator. Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Required: + Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to relate appropriately with elderly individuals.
