ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:* Stand at restaurant entrance and verbally greet guests as they arrive, offer seating choices, escort them to their table, present menu and answer guest inquiries* Maintain proper set-up of dining room* Assist guests in person and via telephone with ordering and serving of to-go items.* Receive, record and make any necessary arrangements for reservations and special functions in the restaurant.* Maintain all reader boards with daily specials and buffet information.* Maintain menus and check presenters, ensuring that a proper supply is available.Other:Assist guests with a variety of inquiries and communicate any guest needs to the appropriate department(s).SUPPORTIVE FUNCTIONS:In addition to performance of the essential functions, this position may be required to perform a combination of the following supportive functions, with the percentage of time performing each function to be solely determined by the supervisor based upon the particular requirements of the hotel.* Maintain an open line of communication between guests, management and line team members.* Clean and clear tables as needed. Transport coffee and tea pots and/or water pitchers throughout outlet, refilling glassware as requested. Assists bus persons with keeping tables and restaurant clean and clear.* Perform other duties as requested by management such as placing tables together, restocking server stations, assisting with cleanliness of restaurant entrance and other similar duties.SPECIFIC JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITYThe individual must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that he or she can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of skills and abilities.* Ability to read, write, and speak and fully comprehend guest requests, memos, reservations, promotional materials, event orders and similar written materials and to communicate effectively with guests and fellow team members.* Ability to remember, recite and promote the variety of menu items.* Ability to move throughout a crowded room to seat guests.* Ability to effectively deal with customer complaints and concerns in a friendly and positive manner.
