ROLE SUMMARY

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining, repairing, and troubleshooting equipment and facilities across retail locations. This role will involve significant travel (75%) across New York state. The technician will perform various tasks, including routine and emergency maintenance, and ensure the safe, efficient operation of all systems within our retail environments.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Travel to retail locations across New York State to perform maintenance and repairs.
    • Syracuse, White Plains, NYC, Kingston - Monthly
  • Setup / troubleshoot point-of-sale stations (power, internet) as needed.
  • Specify and acquire necessary items to complete approved work.
  • Conduct preventive maintenance and repair on HVAC systems, dehumidifiers, lighting, door handles/hinges, plumbing, and electrical systems.
  • Coordinate with management to schedule regular repairs and maintenance at retail locations.
  • Troubleshoot issues electrical circuits, internet connectivity, and facility infrastructure.
  • Inspect to identify maintenance needs and ensure adherence to safety standards and company policies.
  • Maintain detailed records of completed maintenance tasks and preventive actions.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety standards at each retail location.
  • Contribute to process improvement in preventive maintenance and scheduling.

SKILLS:

  • Proficient in the use of hand and power tools.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
  • Capable of operating forklifts and scissor lifts (if required).
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks while traveling.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to adapt to a fast-paced and ever-changing environment.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

This job operates in a professional retail environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to speak and hear. The employee frequently is required to stand at a workstation for extended periods; walk; use hands to handle or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms and ability to work on iPad, laptop or desktop for extended periods of time reading, reviewing and analyzing information and providing recommendations and summaries to patients. Must be able to effectively communicate with others verbally and in writing. Employees may be required to occasionally lift and/or move moderate amounts of weight, typically less than 25 pounds. Regular and predictable attendance is essential.

POSITION TYPE / EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK

This position regularly requires long hours and possible weekend work. Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-the-area and overnight travel may be expected.

REQUIRED EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE

    • High School diploma or GED equivalent
    • Minimum of 3 years of maintenance and general repair experience
    • Building Maintenance experience.
    • Knowledge of electrical, plumbing, HVAC and building equipment.
  • Preferred EPA Certified
