Mission Contribution: The Store Manager will direct day-to-day mission-integrated store operations. It is the responsibility of the Store Manager to ensure the efficient and cost-effective operation and stewardship of the Goodwill store to maximize revenue generation to support the mission of Goodwill. Organizational Design: Under the leadership of the Regional Sales Director, the Store Manager is a member of the Donated Goods Retail Operations team and is tasked with the daily operation of the retail store and the continued development of the store team members, clients and volunteers. This position will also help identify opportunities for the personal and professional growth of employees in support of Goodwill's mission. Essential Functions:
- Responsible for performing assigned duties and management responsibilities within the framework of our Guiding Principles:
- Providing best-in-class customer service
- Maintaining clean, neat, organized and safe facilities
- Maintaining stores full of fresh inventory
- Using data analytics to drive performance
- Input data into a centralized spreadsheet and/or data collection system.
- Ability to use a computer based register system.
- Must be able to perform basic financial calculations for cash handling, register balancing, store finance reporting, and safe management.
- Perform store audits and utilize results to direct needed changes.
- Manage product logistics including but not limited to: stemming, hanging, pricing, sorting, stocking, pulling, and use of fork trucks and/or pallet jacks.
- Ability to hire, train, supervise, develop and evaluate team members.
Duties and Responsibilities: - Open the store at least two (2) times per week and must close the store at least two (2) times per week, on time. This will result in managers opening and closing the store at least four (4) days per week.
- Work each Monday and Friday, a minimum of three (3) Saturdays per month, and the first and last day of the month. Unless there are exceptional circumstances, managers will avoid taking paid time off (vacation/personal days/floating holidays) during the first and last week of the month.
- Responsible for hiring, training, supervising, developing and evaluating team members within the framework of Goodwill policies, procedures and job descriptions.
- Reviews and contributes to store budget, operating the store within budgeted expense to revenue ratios including payroll percentages.
- Scheduling of labor and preparation of time cards /sheets. Responsible for the review and approval of time cards/sheets.
- Responsible for transportation and maintenance needs of the store.
- Responsible for ensuring proper branding, image and security of the store according to agency policies and procedures.
- Responsible for ordering and maintaining supplies in a secured manner in accordance with established budget and agency practices.
- Complete and analyze key performance indicators and reports, including but not limited to, Daily Sales Report; Donor Tracker; Payroll Tracker; Average Transaction Value; Payroll %; Expense to Revenue ratio.
- Ensure customer and donor experience is positive.
- Ensure the proper handling and processing of incoming donations in and out of the store in accordance with Goodwill policies and procedures.
- Ensure that store meetings are held and that agency directives are communicated to all team members.
- Assist in the proper rotation of apparel and hard goods in a timely manner and in accordance with Goodwill's policies and procedures.
- Ensure statistical counts (i.e. donor counts, apparel hung, etc.) are completed in an accurate and timely manner. Complete register pulls, readings, cash reports, daily activity reports, transmittal of reports and daily deposits in accordance with Goodwill's policies and procedures.
- Keep abreast of product knowledge, industry trends, and competitive pricing through comparative shopping of competitors (e.g. full or discount retail, consignment, and second-hand thrift).
- Must perform necessary janitorial work.
- Ability to multi-task, make quick decisions and work in a team oriented, fast paced environment.
- Must have punctual and dependable attendance.
- Participate in Goodwill events and activities outside of routine duties as assigned.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications: - Basic computer skills including the use of Microsoft Office products.
- Bachelor's degree in related field or 2 years of equivalent retail management experience preferred.
- Ability to read, write and communicate in English with good communication skills and ability to communicate with the public and department staff at all times.
- Must have a valid driver's license with reliable transportation for required travel.
- Must be available to work evenings and weekends.
- Must be able to pass skills and knowledge assessment testing.
- Pass drug test and criminal background check.
