In service of Cornell students, faculty, staff, alumni and visitors, The Cornell Store team successfully runs a multi-channel retail business, including a 22,000 sq. ft. flagship campus store, 3 expansive e-commerce sites, and 3 satellite locations throughout the Ithaca area and NYC, ultimately producing a cumulative $26 million in annual retail sales.

The **Retail Supervisor** will actively manage and support their team to drive store sales, increase customer engagement and satisfaction, develop and execute promotions, and achieve sales goals. In this role, you will create an outstanding shopping experience by ensuring staff are engaging with customers, making sure the sales floor is shoppable and welcoming, and helping to resolve issues as they arise. As the Retail Supervisor, you will strive to create a positive and inclusive work environment for your team that ensures your team takes pride in representing The Cornell Store and maintains a respectful and courteous manner at all times. Additionally, this may include assisting in the hiring of staff, creating staffing plans, setting customer service standards and providing service training and regular coaching.

A successful candidate for this position thrives in a fast-paced environment both independently and as a team player. They are able to multi-task effectively and manage multiple priorities while continuing to remain customer-focused. Additionally, they should be actively involved with all staff and continually look to motivate, develop and manage performance through regular hands-on training and coaching that ensures a productive and effective team. It's also important that they are flexible and dependable as schedules change based on business needs and will include some evenings, weekends, and holidays.

**Required Qualifications:**

* Associate's degree or technical training and 2-3 years of experience in retail; or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.

* Excellent oral and written communication skills

* Demonstrated passion for customer service

* Strong competencies with Microsoft Office software and previous experience with retail inventory management systems including POS software is critical.

* Position requires the ability to climb ladders and lift and/or move 25-50 pounds.

**Preferred Qualifications:**

* Advanced degree in business management or related field, or additional work experience in a retail field or managerial capacity is strongly preferred.

* Advanced experience with merchandising, promotional, and visual display skills, using and leveraging inventory management tools, retail POS systems, and/or financial reporting tools is highly desirable.

* Demonstrated experience training and coaching effective sales and service behaviors is also highly preferred.
