A Retirement Plan Administration Consultant is the primary contact for an assigned list of Blue Ridge Associates clients. Excellent customer service, an ability to complete workload in a timely manner, and a commitment to professional development and learning are critical aspects to success in this position.About Blue Ridge Associates: We are a professional services firm that provides third-party retirement plan administration services for companies that sponsor Employee Stock Ownership (ESOPs) and 401(k) Plans. Our offices are located in Charlottesville, VA, Columbia, MD, Columbus, OH, Westchester, IL, Pasadena, CA and Maple Grove, MN, although our client base is nationwide. We are one of the top 2 companies that provide ESOP recordkeeping and administration services in the country, and we continue to grow our retirement services business (401(k), DB, CB). We are seeking sharp, detail-oriented, dedicated individuals to join our team. Essential functions and primary responsibilities of this position include: Customer Service and Consulting:
- Help clients and referral sources with questions
- Formulate and suggest plan improvements
- Introduce and welcome new clients to Blue Ridge Associates
- Meet with clients as needed
- Be an advocate for Blue Ridge Associates in all interactions
Plan Administration:
- Perform all required compliance testing (coverage, nondiscrimination, top-heavy, etc.)
- Calculate employer contributions
- Reconcile trust accounts
- Prepare government reporting forms, statements, and compliance reports
- Interpret plan document provisions / features
- Coordinate with other service providers (financial advisor, investment company, CPA, plan auditor, payroll, attorney, actuary, etc.)
- Stay abreast of the latest retirement plan rules and regulations (research topics, attend webcasts, department meetings, pursue credentials, continuing education, etc.)
- Complete and / or review transactions (loans, distributions, RMDs, QDROs, etc.)
Operational Growth
- Identify opportunities for improvements to our company
- Participate in working groups to enhance the Blue Ridge Associates work product and internal processes
- Support Blue Ridge Associates employees when needed
- Maintain and proactively update company resources and databases
- Affect changes that benefit the organization

Retirement Plan Administration Consultant Requirements:
- 2+ years' experience working specifically on 401(k) administration including related compliance testing
- Bachelor's degree preferred (ideally with a concentration in Accounting, Finance, Math, Economics, or Statistics)
- Possess or working towards QPA, QKA, AKS, or APA certification highly desirable
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and advanced level Excel skills
- Ideally, the candidate would reside near our Maple Grove office, but we are open to remote candidates as well.
