Position Description

This position is charged with the collections and reporting of fine and fees ordered and assessed by the County Criminal Courts at Law or Criminal District Courts.

Duties and Responsibilities:

* Revenue Clerks will also assist the Collections Division Supervisor by performing administrative and data processing duties related to the reporting of these fines and fees by creating or modifying payment plans for defendants released from court by judge's order.

* Must be able to communicate efficiently with customers, court staff, and the court releasing deputy. Criminal Collections achieve optimum efficiency and accomplish the goals of the District Clerks Office, as outlined in the Organizational Strategic Plan, Section Operational Plan and Mission Statement.

* To adhere to all Administrative Standard Operating Procedures.

Requirements

All applicants must register and take the HRRM Clerical Skills Test and score a minimum of 80% with a typing speed of 25 W.P.M. and 80% accuracy.

Education and Experience:

* High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent from an accredited educational institution.

* Minimum three (3) years' experience in cash handling or in a court room setting.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

* Must possess intermediate computer skills in Microsoft Windows, Word, and Excel.

* Must be capable of working under stress and managing multiple projects simultaneously.

* Must be able to work overtime without prior notice and work flexible hours as required.

* Must be willing to travel to any destination required to participate or assist with office projects.

* Must be able to maneuver, including lifting and moving a minimum of thirty (30) pounds.

* Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.

* Must be able to work without direct supervision, have excellent analytical decision-making, prioritization, and organizational skills.

* Must act as a role model for the section; presenting oneself as a professional employee for the other employees to emulate.

* Must be able to understand a working knowledge of criminal courts, collection procedures, data usage and accounting procedures.

* Must be able to understand or have a working knowledge of the Justice Information Management System (JIMS).

* Must be a U.S. citizen or must be eligible for employment in the United States.

* Testing will be required. (Must be able to type 25 words per minute with 80% accuracy and score at least 80% on the grammar portion.)

Salary:

* $16.00 - $17.00 Hourly

Employment is contingent upon passing a background check and drug screen.
