Start Here. Grow Here. Stay Here. Are you someone who is hands-on and enjoys working outside? We are currently looking for a Right-of-Way Mowing Operator who can operate a mower and help maintain and provide exceptional landscaping to your local county.
- Safely operate, fuel and perform basic maintenance functions on the following types of equipment: gas-powered zero-turn commercial grade landscape mowers, Wide Area Mowers (WAM) with 16 ft. cutting deck, commercial grade pick-up trucks pulling up to a 30 ft. trailer, tree chippers, skid loaders, small excavators, and front-end loaders.
- Perform small-engine repairs and equipment maintenance utilizing both hand, power, and pneumatic tools.
- Utilize and follow diagrams, maps, written instructions, and blue prints to install landscaping according to plans or to perform right-of-way maintenance according to plans.
- Right-of-Way mowing, edging, and string trimming.
- Perform right-of-way maintenance work that includes hand weeding, mulching, digging, turf trimming, tree trimming, collection and disposal of litter, and removal or installation of plant materials and trees.
Work Hours: Hours are 6:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
- Fall Schedule -November-May 4 - 10-hour days Monday-Thursday. (Optional Overtime)
- Summer Schedule - June-October 5 -10-hour days Monday-Friday. (Mandatory Overtime)
- Occasional weekend work may be required based off needs of the Department.
About YouMinimum Qualifications:
- A High School Diploma or its equivalent.
- Two (2) years of experience in landscaping, contract mowing, or landscape grounds maintenance.
- Ability to acquire a Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with Tanker endorsement within six (6) months from the time of hire.
- Ability to obtain Intermediate Maintenance of Traffic Certification (IMOT) within six (6) months from the time of hire.
- Ability to obtain Right-of-Way Public Pesticide Applicator's Certification within (1) year from date of hire.
- A valid Florida Driver's License at the time of hire.
Preferred Qualifications:- Ability to operate and perform general maintenance on a variety of landscape equipment and small engine repairs.
Physical Demands: - Must frequently lift and/or move more than 50 pounds.
- May be required to lift and move concrete bags weighing 60 pounds.
*This position is subject to passing a pre-employment substance screening.
