Rights & Reproduction Assistant (Regular, Full-time)Rights & ReproductionReporting to the Senior Manager, Rights & Reproduction, the Rights & Reproductions, Assistant is responsible for ensuring LACMA has the appropriate permissions and photographic materials to reproduce. This includes works from the museum collection as well as exhibition-related works and materials reflected in LACMA publications, brochures, educational materials, exhibitions, mailings (print and digital), and on LACMA's website, blog and social media.Responsibilities:* Demonstrates strong self-motivation and initiative, as well as, the ability to take direction and work independently on multiple projects* A generous team member who is comfortable collaborating, asking questions, and offers helpful feedback* Works with Curatorial and Publications staff to research and procure publication-ready photography for reproduction in LACMA publications and exhibitions* Works with Publications editors to write captions and photo credits for LACMA publications* Shares work with colleagues and reports on progress using project management software* Compiles photography and their related cost estimates for publication and promotional image usage* Works with the Press Office and Marketing Department to seek appropriate permissions for LACMA's press and promotional images, including reviewing materials to ensure proper crediting and usage* Assesses the quality of the photographic materials received in relation to its potential use, working with the Senior Rights and Reproductions Associates and General Counsel as necessary* Works with the Photo Services Department and Freelance photographers to generate new photography and requests existing photography for various museum uses* Helps maintain up-to-date copyright information about artists and estates in LACMA's collection* Supports the work of other Rights and Reproductions staff, as needed* Solves a variety of copyright puzzles of moderate scope and complexityBenefits:* The expected hourly rate for this Los Angeles, CA based position is $23.00 - $24.00, subject to change, and the position is eligible for LACMA's comprehensive benefits package, including pension plan.* LACMA is committed to providing its employees with valuable and competitive benefits as a core part of a strong overall employee experience.Qualifications:* B.A. in Art History, Museum Studies or other related fields.* Strong organizational abilities and experience in research and data entry are required.* Knowledge or interest in museum operations and copyright is a plus.* Familiarity with Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Bridge, The Museum System (TMS), and digital asset management systems is highly valued.
