Job DescriptionThe Senior Risk Advisory Analyst is responsible for assisting the Hilltop Holdings (HTH) Risk Advisory Director with executing, maintaining and enhancing a best in class risk management program. The Senior Risk Advisory Analyst is instrumental in the implementation and execution of risk oversight processes, which drive consistent risk identification, measurement, monitoring and mitigation across all lines of business in accordance with regulatory requirements, and the Board of Directors approved risk appetite and strategic plans. The Senior Risk Advisory Analyst will work closely with, but not limited to, all other members of the Risk Advisory team, executive management, IT, Information Security, Compliance, Legal, SOX, Project Management and Business Continuity / Disaster Recovery, and their associated business units and departments in an extremely collaborative environment. A skillset with a high proficiency in communication skills allowing effective, concise communication in various forms and the ability to partner with senior executives is critical. Key risk focus areas include Operational, Legal, Compliance, and Strategy. The Senior Risk Advisory Analyst should demonstrate critical thinking and independent judgement and be responsible for leading various initiatives as assigned with limited management oversight. The Senior Risk Advisory Analyst must have strong communication and analytical skills with the ability to interpret data, innovate and make strategic decisions. In addition, it is expected that the Senior Risk Advisory Analyst will have the ability to prioritize, handle multiple tasks independently and meet aggressive deadlines.Responsibilities
  • Demonstrate and implement an in-depth understanding of risk policies, procedures, and practices.
  • Maintain a comprehensive knowledge of relevant line of business processes, policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Using industry knowledge, provide objective challenge both within the department and where applicable with the business.
  • Lead efforts to identify and evaluate operational, compliance, legal and strategic threats to key management objectives.
  • Lead efforts to collaboratively conduct risk analysis assessments by partnering with the business to identify and maintain an inventory of objectives, risks, controls, ratings, and systems.
  • Lead efforts to assess and monitor risks associated with critical and high-risk vendors.
  • Identify, monitor and maintain key performance indicators (KPIs) which aid in the rating of risk categories.
  • Identify, monitor and maintain key risk indicators (KRI) or early warning indicators (EWI) for relevant risks and processes.
  • Conduct root cause analysis and develop risk treatment plans for loss events and near-miss events.
  • Lead efforts to compile clear, accurate and timely risk analyses, data and operating dashboards / reports for senior management, the Board of Directors and other appropriate parties highlighting trends, breaches, high priority risks, and remediation activity.
  • Assess risks associated with new products and services.
  • Develop and maintain competency with key risk technology solutions including SAI Global, ACL and PowerBI.
  • Assist with the professional development of Risk Advisory Analysts in the pursuit of department of objectives.
  • Partner with the Enterprise Risk and Regulatory Team to provide the overall risk department with a deeper understanding of risk drivers and their root cause analysis of issues.
  • Exhibit a strong executive presence and provide clear, efficient, and concise communication in various forms; written reports and verbal presentations.
  • Lead risk management education (awareness and adoption) and further develop a risk aware culture that focuses on creating value and achieving strategic objectives across HTH.
  • Other functions as needed.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, risk management, mathematics, business or related field.
  • 3-7 years of relevant work experience.
  • Excellent PC skills, MS Office suite products.
  • Demonstrated ability to interact effectively with various levels within the organization.
  • Ability to demonstrate excellent detail orientation, critical thinking and analytical skills.
  • Displays excellent time management, organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Must have strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently with little supervision or guidance.
