Job Summary:

Our ideal Risk Manager will oversee the organization's comprehensive insurance and risk management program, assessing, identifying, developing, and implementing risk management strategies continuously. Supervises Insurance and Surety programs, Contract Management, and Claim Management functions.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities, including but not limited to:
- Administration: Administers comprehensive insurance program, including general liability, auto liability, workers' compensation, contractor's professional and pollution liability, property, cyber, executive risks, subcontractor default, etc. Manages insurance claims from inception through resolution. Prepare, submit, and work with project teams to ensure all insurance claims (GL, SDI, Work Comp, Auto, etc.) are timely and effectively resolved.
- Communication: Works with stakeholders to develop and implement policies, procedures, process improvements, and best practices to reduce risk and control losses. Build and nurture regular and productive communications and partnerships with other teams to balance competing interests to pursue collective company goals and ensure alignment around wins, opportunities, expectations, and priorities. Develop, foster, and manage TPA, Broker, Insurer, and other key partner relationships. Provide guidance and technical subject-matter expertise for risk and insurance matters to the organization.
- Review: Work with captive insurer on policy renewals, purchase coverages, claims reviews, etc. Review and analyze Bid Documents and Specifications for new contracts. Review insurance coverage issues related to construction contracts, lease agreements, subcontract agreements, and consultant agreements with various stakeholders. Evaluate, initiate, and direct the appropriate insurance pricing and coverage recommendations for all new pursuits.
- Create: Create insurance bid specifications that the company's insurance broker can market to provide appropriate coverage on a project basis and/or company-wide. Review, negotiate, and recommend for approval project-specific policy forms that will be bound to protect the project and in turn the company. Ensure that all project-specific insurance coverage and bonds are managed throughout the lifecycle of the project and the respective extended reporting period and/or completed operations period.
- Assist: Assist the broker with the development, implementation, and management of company-sponsored Contractor Controlled Insurance Programs (CCIPs), including the ongoing financial evaluation of programs as well as the rollout and monitoring of the program at the project site. Assist with the compilation/development of data for the company's annual renewal of the property and casualty insurance program. Assist with completing all required insurance applications for coverage renewals. Assist in the review, comparison, and negotiation of all Bernards purchased insurance policies. Compile and maintain statistical reports as required. Participate/lead insurance and risk transfer training with Operation partners.
- Build and Train Develop direct report(s) to be effective people/team leaders and to meet personal and departmental goals. Oversee and ensure department performance to meet evolving goals, initiatives, and key performance indicators. Lead, continue to build, train, and develop the insurance claims management and corporate insurance program teams. This includes the development of direct report(s) to be effective people/team leaders and to meet personal and departmental goals, initiatives, and key performance indicators. Educate employees by periodically providing in-house training to various groups on important risk management topics and emerging risks. Support the ongoing and growing needs of the Company as needed with routine and non-routine duties and projects. Develop and support renewal strategy meetings with brokers and insurers Review marketing results and assist in analysis, etc.
- Management: Manage and audit all insurance policy documentation, endorsements, etc. for accuracy. Manage programs through a combination of self-insurance, commercial insurance, captive, and other strategies developed in partnership with broker partners. Manage internal exposure data to assist in the preparation of underwriting submissions. Partner with Accounting to develop and maintain Statement of Values and other property risk data. Management and oversight of COIs and endorsements for Clients, Subcontractors, and Vendors
- OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED.
