This Supervisor is responsible for providing leadership to the Support Services Staff and oversight of all aspects of services provided to patients and caregivers. Office Location: Pasadena, MD Coverage Area: Anne Arundel, Prince George's, Charles and Calvert CountiesStatus: Part-timeSchedule: 2 12-hour shifts, Days vary, 10am - 10:30pm with rotating weekends.Salary: Competitive, commensurate with experience, education and credentialing Main Responsibilities:Functions as a role model in area of clinical specialty, demonstrating competency in clinicaljudgement, selected technical skills and appropriate knowledge base to lead and guide staff. Demonstrates clinical expertise in the execution of the nursing process and directs staff in its application to promote safe, effective and appropriate care.Supervises, evaluates and mentors staff assigned to Supportive Services, including creating and overseeing a plan of professional development for each staff member to ensure up-to-date credentials and compliance with certification and licensure requirements. Prepares and delivers staff evaluations in a timely manner. Establishes and oversees completion of individual performance improvement plans as necessary.Serves as a resource to staff, patients and families, ensuring that patient problems are addressed and resolved in a timely manner.Evaluates the quality of patient care through direct staff observation and review of nursing documentation, review of medical records and patient feedback.Ensures that staff understands and exhibits the hospice philosophy of palliative care through education and role modeling.Conducts supervisory visits for the staff. Liaisons with the Director of Human Resources to ensure that all staff needs and issues are addressed in a timely manner. Be familiar with and administer the Progressive Discipline Policy as needed. Ensures that staff is familiar with and adheres to Hospice of the Chesapeake policies and procedures. Patient care responsibilities include participating in Pediatrics On-Call, and GIP visits.Assist in bed control for the ICCs with Intake StaffSupports and participates in process improvement initiatives as directed by Director. Possess a current, active and unencumbered Maryland nursing (RN) license.Minimum five years of nursing experience in a medical/surgical or home care setting required; previous hospice experience strongly preferred.Minimum three years of supervisory experience preferred Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills.Demonstrated emotional maturity and ability to cope and work effectively in stressful situations.Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision.Knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, private insurance and other community programs and resources.Demonstrated ability to work effectively on an inter-disciplinary team.Excellent customer service philosophy and skills required.Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality of information.Demonstrated organizational and time management skills.Basic computer skills, to include but not limited to Microsoft Word and Outlook, required.Demonstrated understanding of and concurrence with the hospice philosophy of palliative care.In accordance with Hospice of the Chesapeake's commitment to leadership and industry-leading care, we require that all employees be vaccinated against COVID and influenza, as well as being screened for TB upon hire and annually thereafter.
