Monitor patients, manage their tubing, maintain arterial catheters, and stay aware of potential drug complications, throughout the clinic visit. Education & Experience Must be licensed as RN for one (1) year. Two (2) years of RNexperience in specified area preferred. BSN preferred.
Certifications, Licenses or Registration Required: Valid RN license. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Role autonomy and independence, patient care and relationships, teamwork, patient teaching, innovative thinking, technical mastery. Experience and familiarity with infusion therapy preferred. Independence and flexibility.
Responsibilities - Assessment of the patient before, during and after the start of the intravenous medication.
- Determines appropriate venipuncture site and performs venous punctures and maintains the intravascular site including tubing and dressings.
- Monitors for infections, assess and treats patients for adverse reactions and complications, initiate emergency therapies.
- Initiates, monitors, and terminates therapies including medications, antineoplastic agents, investigational drugs, and blood products.
- Provides and oversees direct patient care in accordance with established nursing protocols, including vital signs up to every 15 minutes, and physician's orders.
- Provides education to patients and families regarding intravenous treatment and post discharge instructions.
- Documents all patient-directed activities.
