Monitor patients, manage their tubing, maintain arterial catheters, and stay aware of potential drug complications, throughout the clinic visit.Education & ExperienceMust be licensed as RN for one (1) year. Two (2) years of RN experience in specified area preferred. BSN preferred.Certifications, Licenses or Registration Required: Valid RN license.Knowledge, Skills & AbilitiesRole autonomy and independence, patient care and relationships, teamwork, patient teaching, innovative thinking, technical mastery. Experience and familiarity with infusion therapy preferred. Independence and flexibility.ResponsibilitiesAssessment of the patient before, during and after the start of the intravenous medication.Determines appropriate venipuncture site and performs venous punctures and maintains the intravascular site including tubing and dressings.Monitors for infections, assess and treats patients for adverse reactions and complications, initiate emergency therapies.Initiates, monitors, and terminates therapies including medications, antineoplastic agents, investigational drugs, and blood products.Provides and oversees direct patient care in accordance with established nursing protocols, including vital signs up to every 15 minutes, and physician's orders.Provides education to patients and families regarding intravenous treatment and post discharge instructions.Documents all patient-directed activities.The duties listed are general in nature and are examples of the duties and responsibilities performed and are not meant to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive.
