Job Description:
Purpose of Position:Provide advanced life support care to patients during air and or ground transportation and provide EMS training to the community and provide technicial support to the emergency department to optimize patient care.Uphold the organization's vision, mission, and corporate values. Demonstrate understanding of and compliance with organization's policies, procedures, code of conduct and work rules.Essential Functions:
  • To respond to on site and village clinic medical emergencies, conduct a preliminary medical assessment of the patient(s) condition(s), triage and provide intervention per protocol, communicate interventions and status to care facility and transport to highest available level of care as required by patient(s) condition(s).
  • Apply artificial respiration or administer oxygen in cases of asphyxiation, dyspnea or hypoxia, start and administer intravenous fluids, required pharmacuticals or antibiotics and perform other emergency medical procedures during on site stabilization and transportation
  • Assist providers in the emergency room to include, but not limited to, point of care testing, wound care, phlebotomy, IV, EKGs, monitors and preparation for additional patient transport to higher level of care
  • Assume nursing duties as delegated by RNs (refer to Alaska Board of Nursing Statutes and Regulations 12 AAC 44.960 Delegation of Specialized Nursing Duties)
  • Provide education to community residents regarding emergency medical care and prevention
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum RequirementsEducationDegreeProgramAccredited post-secondary program Emergency Healthcare Management, Paramedic Studies or related fieldExperienceGeneral (Non-supervisory)SupervisoryAmount:3 year(s)in direct patient care and advanced emergency medical training, flight preferred1 (years)in a lead/senior paramedic role in a high volume EMS or flight systemType:Must have both general and supervisory experience if indicated.CredentialsLicensure, Certification, etc.National EMT-Paramedic and eligible for Alaska Mobile Intensive Care Paramedic; BLS, CPR, ACLS, ATLS or PHTLS, PALS and NRP; FP-C within two years of hirePhysical Requirements:•Use hands and arms to operate office or clinical equipment•Sit more than half the workday•Stand and/or walk more than half the workday•Bend, stretch, twist, crouch and/or reach•View electronic monitors for prolonged periods of time•Use hands and arm for repetitive motion tasks consistently for more than one hour at a time•Lift or carry unaided 25 to 50 pounds•Push or pull using more than moderate force•See and hear with normal acuityWorking Conditions:•Work is conducted in a standard clinical environment to include exposure to latex, biohazrd or other harmful substances.•Substantial travel is required (more than 50% of the time).•Travel is required via large aircraft.•Travel is required via small (less than 16 passenger) aircraft •Travel is required using snowmobiles, all terrain vehicles, or boat.•Work may be conducted outside in inclement weather contitions.I attest that I do not have any physical, mental, or medical impairment or disability that would limit my job performance.
