Purpose of Position:Provide advanced life support care to patients during air and or ground transportation and provide EMS training to the community and provide technicial support to the emergency department to optimize patient care.Uphold the organization's vision, mission, and corporate values. Demonstrate understanding of and compliance with organization's policies, procedures, code of conduct and work rules.Essential Functions:
- To respond to on site and village clinic medical emergencies, conduct a preliminary medical assessment of the patient(s) condition(s), triage and provide intervention per protocol, communicate interventions and status to care facility and transport to highest available level of care as required by patient(s) condition(s).
- Apply artificial respiration or administer oxygen in cases of asphyxiation, dyspnea or hypoxia, start and administer intravenous fluids, required pharmacuticals or antibiotics and perform other emergency medical procedures during on site stabilization and transportation
- Assist providers in the emergency room to include, but not limited to, point of care testing, wound care, phlebotomy, IV, EKGs, monitors and preparation for additional patient transport to higher level of care
- Assume nursing duties as delegated by RNs (refer to Alaska Board of Nursing Statutes and Regulations 12 AAC 44.960 Delegation of Specialized Nursing Duties)
- Provide education to community residents regarding emergency medical care and prevention
- Perform other duties as assigned.
