Job Description:
Registered NurseTeam HighlightsCardiac Medical (3 North) is a cardiology focused medical surgical unit. The patient population is made up primarily of patients with cardiac diagnoses including but not limited to CHF, brady and tachy arrhythmias, NSTEMI, pulmonary embolisms, and chest pain. Most patients on the unit require telemetry monitoring that is monitored by a central monitoring studio. Interventions for this patient population typically include echocardiograms, cardiac catheterizations, stress tests, pacemaker placement, Lasix drips and heparin drips. Further education for nurses consists of a detailed cardiac essentials module and a basic cardiac rhythm interpretation module. 3N continues to take medical and surgical overflow patients as needed within scope.   • Evaluates, plans, implements, and documents nursing care for an assigned patient population
  • Assists physician during examinations and procedures
  • Performs various patient tests and administers medications within the scope of practice of the registered nurse
  • Promotes patient's independence by establishing patient care goals and teaching patient and family to understand condition, medications, and self-care skills
  • A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected
  • Performs other related duties as assigned
  • Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the field
  • Regular and predictable attendance is an essential job function
  • Competent to meet age specific needs of the unit assigned
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Graduate of a nationally accredited Nursing program required
  • RN with less than 3 years' patient-facing nursing experience at time of hire are required to be enrolled in a baccalaureate (or higher) degree program in nursing within 1 year of employment, with completion within 3 years of hire
  • RN with at least 3 years' patient-facing nursing experience at time of hire, ADN or diploma required; BSN or higher preferred
  • State of Idaho Registered Nurse OR licensure pending as documented by temporary licensure OR current RN licensure from a state participating in the multistate privilege to practice compact with Idaho prior to start date
  • BLS Required
