Job Summary

Position responsible for developing, providing, and coordinating direct staff education, indirect patient education, orientation training, and development of curriculum and individual learning plans and monitoring staff.

Southeast Memorial Hermann is now hiring for a RN Clinical Educator for our Med Surg Service Line.

What certifications, degrees or qualifications are considered ? MSN, Certified as Development Specialist NPD-BC highly desired, along with 5+ years in Med Surg and experience in education or able to articulate interfacing with education initiatives and support.

What does a day in the life look like on your unit? This position is designed for those with a passion to teach and work on a vibrant, busy team with a large scope of practice that emulates the best of professional nursing practice. The education team reports to the Institute of Nursing Excellence at MHHS but is housed within MH SE and MH PL hospitals and League City Convenient Care Center. This education team works collaboratively with staff and leaders across the three facilities, and this role will focus primarily on the Southeast location.

This role has Centralized and a Decentralized components within its scope of practice. Centralized duties may include teaching or build content for example: New employee orientation, Preceptor and Charge nurse classes, TEAM training, Skills days and Competency methods and validation, ACLS, BLS and PALS, LVN, PCT and Nurse Resident Program skills and development, and all Academic Affiliations are managed through this team.

We are a Magnet facility and in the middle of our redesignation and this role also supports the Magnet committees and activities that support professional nursing excellence in practice. All team members are active in system specialty councils and facility level councils.

What is schedule for this role? Days, hours vary, depending on what they are doing. Orientation: early mornings or night before setup, and arrival before orientees, some evening. No holidays or weekends required unless there is a major role out initiative.

Job Description

Minimum Qualifications

Education: Masters Degree or clinical specialty certification

Licenses/Certifications:

* Current State of Texas license/permit to practice professional nursing

* Completion of Basic Life Support

* Other certification based upon specific nursing unit requirements

Experience / Knowledge / Skills:

* At least five (5) years of clinical experience as a Registered Nurse

* Viewed as an expert and leader in current specialty

Principal Accountabilities

* Serves as an educational resource at the service level and for core hospital activities. Assesses, plans, develops, coordinates, implements and evaluates educational needs that are appropriate to target population. Works independently to develop curriculum for identified learning needs.

* Facilitates and coordinates individual learning plans.

* Promotes team approach to healthcare delivery. Facilitates effective patient education at the service level. Evaluates effectiveness of patient education.

* Develops and maintains new employee orientation program. Acts as clinical resource for staff. Communicates effectively with all levels of the healthcare team.

* Ensures safe care to patients, staff and visitors; adheres to all Memorial Hermann policies, procedures, and standards within budgetary specifications including time management, supply management, productivity and quality of service.

* Promotes individual professional growth and development by meeting requirements for mandatory/continuing education and skills competency; supports department-based goals which contribute to the success of the organization; serves as preceptor, mentor and resource to less experienced staff.
