Job Summary:The Clinical Educator carries out a plan of educational activities to enhance, promote, and maintain the standard of care within the hospital.Major Responsibilities / Duties / Critical Tasks:* Assesses and identifies learning need.* Coordinates continuous comprehensive educational activities and research for employees.* Develops and provides educational programs to improve critical thinking and professional skills of the staff at the bedside and in the management arenas.* Evaluates the effectiveness of actions.* Implements financial accountability for ongoing unit-based educational activities and evaluates outcomes based on learner feedback and budgetary guidelines.* Maintains established standards of practice, implements professional development educational training for professional growth.* Plans and implements appropriate interventions.* Utilizes the values and principles of UT Health East Texas to develop unit-based educational activities and evaluates the effectiveness of these activities on an ongoing basis by assessing changes in clinical performance and improved customer satisfaction.* Other duties as assigned.Accompanying Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Competencies:* Ability to keep detailed records; to assemble and organize data of complex nature, and to prepare and submit reports in acceptable and/or required formats.* Ability to multitask effectively.* Ability to collaborate with coworkers and functionally related teams.* Ability to work with confidential and sensitive information with discretion.* Computer skills, including Microsoft office, technical drawings, cad.* Excellent oral and written communication skills.* Good organizational and leadership skills.Required Education / Experience:* Bachelor's degree in nursing from an accredited school of nursing.* Five (5) years of critical care clinical experience.* Familiarity with the organization and functions of other disciplines within the hospital.* Current Texas License as a Registered Nurse.* NLS from AHA.* May accept a combination of education and experience.Preferred Education / Experience:* Master's degree in nursing.* Two (2) years of management and/or teaching experience.Working Environment:* Standard office environment.
