We are a 120-bed not-for-profit nursing facility offering advanced healthcare while providing skilled nursing and rehabilitative services for both long and short term residents. Located on eight beautiful landscaped acres, we also provide sub-acute services, wound care and respite services.

We are currently seeking a RN Nurse Manager who will be responsible for twenty-four hour organization, coordination, implementation and evaluation of nursing service within the assigned clinical unit. Will provide leadership and clinical assistance that promotes excellence in nursing care to the residents.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Licensed in the State of New York as a Registered Professional Nurse.
  • Bachelors Degree preferred.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability in nursing practice in a Long Term Care Facility for a minimum of three years.
  • Certification as a PRI Assessor.
  • Most possess and maintain all necessary certifications for CPR/BLS and other certifications, in-services as required by this facility.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Organizes, coordinates, implements and evaluates resident care on the unit in acoordance with the philosophy and objective of the nursing department.
  • Ensures that nursing care needs of residents are assessed, evaluated and met in accordance with established standards of care.
  • Maintains excellence in continuity of care by encouraging the use of the nursing process, working as a role model.
  • Responsible for maximum utilization of available nursing staff to ensure optimum delivery of care. Delegates and assigns job functions to appropriate skill levels.
  • Ensures the completion, accuracy and accountability of all resident care documentation in accordance with established policy and guidelines.
  • Evaluates staff performance on a coninuing basis, setting goals and objectives for the individual. Submits written performance evaluations for nursing staff in accordance with established policies.
  • Colloborates with Staff Development in (a) identifying learning needs and planning education programs to improve competence; (b) participating in orientation of new personnel.
  • Provides direct resident teaching or family teaching as necessary to acheive nursing goals.
  • Directly assists and supervises the implementation of new policies, procedures, treatments and equipment and evaluates the effectiveness/impact in resident care.
  • Performs quality assurance audits and relays information to the Director of Nursing Services/Assistant Director of Nursing Services for the implementation of corrective plans.
  • Intitiated progressive disciplinary action of nursing staff including immediate suspension. Submits written documentation of same to Director of Nursing Services.
  • Maintains and monitors staff compliance to nursing care standards and Department of Health regulations.
  • Conducts stafff meeting on all three shifts.
  • Participates in interviewing and hiring of qualified applicants for positions on units.
  • Ensures for the timely, accurate administration of medication, care, treatment, supportive services and appropriate documentation with facility policies.
  • Communicates and cooperates with physicians and other departments for coordination of resident care. Attends interdisciplinary care plan conferences.
  • Coordinates with the MDS Coordinator the completion of Resident Assessment and the care planning practice. Participates in developing the Interdisciplinary Comprehensive Care Plan.
  • Maintains a consistent pattern of attendance at scheduled Nursing Management Meetings.
  • Maintains professional competence and current licensure of both facility and NYS required certification, qualifications CPR/BLS through participation in continuing education and other appropriate learning experience.
  • Creates and maintains an atmosphere of courtesy and respect toward residents, staff and families.
  • Responsible for unity staffing.
  • May be required to act as Nursing Supervisor.
  • Performs other related functions as requested.
  • Demonstrates knowledge, respect and sensitivity of resident's rights as identified within the Resident Bill of Rights and facility policy and mission statement. Assures confidentiality of all resident information.
  • Attends in-service education as required
  • Performs related duties as required.
