Working closely with the Office for People with Developmental Disabilities and the Office of Mental Health, we support 27 housing locations and 3 administrative buildings. About the Role We are looking for a proactive employee to provide monitoring and oversight of participant's medical care to ensure needs are being met. Promote the maintenance of optimum health and reduction of potential injury.Responsibilities include:
- Monitor the health and well being of participants according to OPWDD regulations
- Provide on-going trainings regarding infection control, blood borne pathogens, signs and symptoms of illness, including program participant's medical needs and medications, first-aid and emergency medical procedures
- Attend meetings in community as an Agency representative
- Maintains compliance and ensure department staff maintain compliance with applicable rules and regulations
- Obtain medical services for all participants and assist with coordinating services with medical personnel and other Agencies
Education & Experience Registered Nurse, licensed in New York State. Two years experience with people with disabilities preferred.Knowledge, Skills & Abilities RN works independently and is able to use personal and professional discretion in implementing new approaches and/or problem solving. With minimal supervision, prioritize outcomes, provide training and interact with other medical providers in the community. Contact with the public is extensive.Conditions of EmploymentMust have a valid NYS driver license in accordance with Agency Vehicle and Driving Policy and transportation necessary to meet program needs. Must be available for emergencies. Schedule flexibility to accommodate participant needs. Must be able to lift 75 pounds.PT
