Summary:
Guided by knowledge of the basic principles of nursing based on the biological, physical, and psycho-social sciences, utilizes judgment supported by evidence and nursing theory in the delivery of nursing care. Provides, coordinates and/or delegates nursing care and manages resources in the delivery of care for patients, the family of patients and the community, with the goal of attaining, maintaining and restoring optimum health.
Supports the staffing of Inpatient Medical/Surgical, Telemetry, Critical Care, and Behavioral Health units across Summa Health Akron and Barberton Campuses. Supplement staffing in other areas as needed according to skill and competency.
Minimum Qualifications:
1. Formal Education Required:
a. Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing or a school accepted for candidacy status from an accrediting body
b. Current license to practice registered nursing in the State of Ohio
2. Experience and Training Required:
a. One (1) year of related RN experience required for the specialty in which the Regional Float Pool RN is primarily assigned.
1. Specialty areas include: Medical/Surgical, Telemetry, Critical Care, and Behavioral Health
b. Additional related previous experience and/or preparation may be required for designated units.
3. Other Skills, Competencies and Qualifications:
a. Must complete specialty-specific competency based orientation pathway.
b. Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination.
c. Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time
d. Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range
e. Requires working under stressful conditions or working irregular hours.
f. Requires exposure to communicable disease, body fluids, toxic substances, ionizing radiation, and other potentially hazardous conditions common to a clinical environment, such as risk of falls, strains, etc.
g. Maintain current Basic Life Support certification; Additional certifications are required for specialty areas as defined. Examples include but are not limited to: ACLS, NIH, NVCI, etc.
4. Population Specific Competency:
a. Ability to effectively interact with populations of patients/customers with an understanding of their needs for self-respect, dignity and diversity.
5. Level of Physical Demands:
a. Heavy: Exerts 50-100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or ten to 20 pounds of force continuously to move objects.
$52.00/hr - $52.00/hr
