Job Description: ER RN Location: Bronx, NY, 10457 Unit Type: Emergency Room (ER) Care Setting: Acute Shift Length: 12 hours Guaranteed Hours: 34.5 hours per week Years of Experience Required: 2 years License Requirement: Yes Required Certifications: ACLS BLS NIHSS PALS Unit Overview: Trauma Level: II (Stroke and STEMI Certified) Number of Beds: 65 Bays, divided into zones (A, B, C, D, E) Fast Track Area: 10 Chairs staffed by 2 Attendings and 1 RN Triage Area: Separate area with 3-4 Triage RNs; experience required Holding Area: ER staff can see ER Hold Patients; ERG nurses assist Psych Patients: Transferred to Fulton Campus Security: In-house 24/7 Patient Volume: Treats approximately 118,000 patients annually (approx. 9,850/month) Nurse-Patient Ratios: Ratios of 1:4-8, depending on patient acuity and staffing levels Common Diagnoses: Adults and Pediatrics: DM, Asthma, Respiratory Issues, COVID, Chest Pain, STEMI, CVA, Stroke, Psych, Trauma Experience Required: 2 years of ER experience with triage experience preferred; trauma experience is a plus First-time travelers with similar metropolitan ED experience may be considered Clinical Skills: Ability to titrate critical drips and provide conscious sedation for procedures Experience with phlebotomy, 12 Lead EKGs, vital signs, and POCT Team Structure: ED Physicians/Mid-Levels: 1-2 Attendings in each zone, with 3-4 RNs and 1 PCT Charge Nurse: 1 Charge and 1 Manager available 24/7 Nurse Aids: 1 PCT in each zone for various support tasks Shifts & Scheduling: RN Shifts: 7:00 AM - 7:30 PM, 12:00 PM - 12:30 AM PCT Shifts: 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM, 3:00 PM - 11:30 PM, 11:00 PM - 7:30 AM Flexibility in scheduling is required; block scheduling may be considered Weekend & Holiday Requirements: Typically every other weekend; may be asked to cover extra weekends and participate in holiday rotation Additional Information: Scrub Color: Royal Blue Unit Specific Orientation: 1-2 shifts with a preceptor; orientation includes classroom and on-unit training
