Occasionally handle Lasix. Job Description:- Work in an Intermediate Care Unit, handling a 30-bed capacity with a mix of private and semi-private rooms.- The nurse-to-patient ratio goal is 1:4, typically running 1:5; occasionally, it might reach 1:6.- Utilize the Allscripts - Sunrise EMR system for documentation.- The Charge Nurse/House Supervisor takes a full patient assignment, with additional support from a Clinical Assistant who splits time between patient care and office duties.- Assist and manage patients with common diagnoses such as chest pain, rule out MI, CHF, arrhythmias, post-pacemaker, pre/post-caths, groin checks, and other intermediate care acuities, including Tikosyn therapy management.- Collaborate with the hospitalist, intensivists, and residents available 24/7 in-house.- IV starts and management are handled by an in-house IV team and PICC/Midline team.- Engage with the Respiratory Team 24/7 for respiratory equipment management including AirVo and Bipap.- Work alongside pharmacy staff available in-house 24/7, utilizing Pyxis for medication dispensing.- Follow the 12-hour shift structure, ensuring to be ready by 6:45 AM/PM, with self-scheduling allowed to meet unit needs.- Expected to float to Telemetry or MedSurg units, with ratios potentially reaching 1:7 in MedSurg if necessary.- Participate in a streamlined orientation process with minimal initial orientation hours followed by on-the-job training with a preceptor.- Adhere to weekend work requirements with a specific number of weekend night shifts per schedule.- Flexibility required for holiday shifts, typically covered by permanent staff.- Dress code: Navy blue scrubs and navy scrub jackets, no hoodies allowed.
