Unit NotesDepartment: Outpatient Dialysis *Certifications Required: BLS*NO CLINICAL INVOLVEMENT* * *MUST BE WILLING TO PICK UP SHIFTS WHEN NEEDED - We will guarantee a minimum of 36 hours, however travel staff must be willing to help cover needs. Unit puts a 6 week schedule out 2 weeks prior to its start date. All staff are given a copy of that schedule. If there is a sick call, family emergency etc. it is asked of all staff to try to cover shifts they are not scheduled for. This is the team work that is appreciated by all staff. * * *- # beds/Chairs: Licensed for 7 chairs. Pods- One pod has 3 patients the other pod has 4 patients- Nurse:Patient Ratios: 1:3-4 - Common diagnosis / Types of patients: Adult to geriatric. Patient mixture of catheters and fistulas- Experience or 'Must have' skills: Must have chronic dialysis experience. Must be willing to read water room and use bicarb mixer- will train- Nephrologist onsite?: Nephrologist here two days a month for rounds otherwise off site and available by phone for orders- Is there a Manager/Supervisor on each shift?: Charge Nurse- Do you use Medical Assistants or CNAs?: No- Do you use Patient Care Techs: No, 1 LPN & rest are RNs- Common Medications: Heparin, Hep B vaccine, Flu Vaccine, Zemplar, Ferleccit, cinacalcet, midodrine, darbepoetin alfa, PRN meds such as Tylenol, Zofran and occasional antibiotics - Equipment: Fersenius 2008T- EMR: Clarity- Shifts & Scheduling: Varied Shifts - M/W/F 5a-5:30p OR 9a-10p, Tu/Th/S 5a-5:30p, 5a-1:30p, 9a-5:30p Shift times/days may vary based on census, Rotating weekends. Run three shifts on M-W-F and two shifts on T-TH-S. Minimum of two nurses in the department at all times. Three nurses at shift change to turn over machines/chairs. Team scheduling- Weekend Requirement: Rotating weekends- Holiday Requirement: Every other- Is there a call or standby requirement?: No- Scrub Color: Any color scrubs- How many shifts of unit/department specific orientation?: 3- 12 hour shifts with another RN working the floor, depends on experience- Additional Notes: ER and Code team available if patient has sudden change in status. Next closest KDU is a 2 hour drive. Some patients drive 5 hours to receive dialysis. Attributes that help make a nurse successful in this unit include team work, motivation, provide compassionate care and patient safety, and attention to infection control.Radius Rule: 50 miles AND candidates may not be full time, part time, or PRN with any facility associated with CommonSpirit, including CHI and/or Dignity within the past 12 monthsRTO needed upfront - Additional RTO will not be approved, including after submissions.Updated On: 7/15/24
