Summary: Provides professional nursing care for the comfort and well-being of patients. Prepares equipment and assists physician during examinations and treatments. Administers prescribed medications, changes dressings, cleans wounds, and monitors patient vital signs. Observes and maintains records on patient care, condition, reaction, and progress.The medical-surgical unit at Shoreline Hospital provides exceptional care for Ortho, Oncology, and Med/Surg patients. Our RNs care for patients with elective surgeries, fractures from the ER, and medical overflow. Our Inpatient Oncology department is the only acute inpatient unit in the region. We take care of patients who come in who may have a new or existing cancer diagnosis. We treat them with chemotherapy/hematology interventions when indicated or may be treating them for symptoms related to recently having chemotherapy. We also care for patients who may have a secondary diagnosis related to having cancer. Our wonderful team is passionate about taking care of our oncology population. Our focus is to create an environment that manages serious situations/conditions with the sensitivity needed to enhance and invoke physical and emotional healing reflective of CHRISTUS Spohn's Mission.
Requirements: Education/Skills - Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. Able to assess, plan, implement and evaluate nursing care.
Experience - Two-years of Oncology nursing experience preferred.
Licenses, Registrations, or Certifications - Current Texas State RN License
- CPR (American Heart Association)
- Oncology Clinical Nurse Certification (ONCâ„¢) (Chemo) or Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) preferred.
