Overview:
The nurse will triage patients to determine prioritization of care, diagnostic testing, and other requirements. The nurse will help stabilize patients, document symptoms, and elevate concerns to medical provider . The nurse must be able to multitask effectively while providing excellent patient care.
Responsibilities:
- Triage incoming patients using ESI acuity level
- Manage care for patients experiencing acute illnesses, injuries, trauma, or allergic reactions
- Assess patient care needs to determine prioritization of treatment
- Collaborate with the emergency room multidisciplinary team to establish treatment goals and develop care plan
- Administer life-sustaining medications, resuscitative IV fluids, and blood products
- Stabilize patients for further treatment
- Monitor vital signs and document findings in the electronic health record (EHR)
- Perform diagnostic tests and assist with bedside procedures to stabilize critically ill patients
- Document patient care and communicate with the healthcare team
- Administer patient education including follow-up care instructions
- Provide emotional support to patients, caregivers, and family
Qualifications:
Graduate of an approved School of Nursing with a current North Carolina RN license or RN multi-statelicensure privilege through the Nurse Licensure Compact.
Certifications required: ACLS, PALS, BLS
Certifications Recommended: TNCC, CEN
