Job TypeFull-timeDescriptionGENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:Oversees the coordination and collaboration of staff with the interdisciplinary team to provide effective nursing care to patients for assigned location(s). Utilizing the nursing process, the Nursing Supervisor is responsible for providing professional nursing care and education while demonstrating excellent customer service. Provides direction and supervision of Registered Nurses, Licensed Practical Nurses and Medical Assistants for assigned location(s). Responsibilities: Provide direction and supervision to the assigned Department's Nursing staff including coordination of duties, customer service, and quality of care. Monitor all provider schedules on a daily basis to ensure timely and efficient flow to patient rooming and overall care in the clinic. Implement and monitor nursing policies, procedures, and programs, including standards and outcome measurement. Participate in performance improvement activities and takes the lead on measures and accountability of nursing staff compliance relating to the assigned Department(s). Adheres to, monitors and reports on infection control, medication management and safety standards. Support the execution of medical orders from assigned Providers. Coordinate and assist department providers with all medical clearances, physical examinations and follow-up visits. Make and complete all referrals to other community service providers as appropriate. Refer patients to Medical Doctor, Mental Health Provider, Dentist or other staff when necessary and appropriate. Maintains timely, accurate documentation of patient care, communication, medical orders, referrals, progress notes, discharge notes, supplies, inventories and all other patient care related paperwork. Provide direct nursing care to individuals and groups including assessment, counseling and teaching during visits, as appropriate. Collaborate with site Practice Manager to ensure patient care needs are met. Complete nursing assessments (including mental health, nutrition and a pain assessment) on all patients, as assigned. Recruit, interview, hire and onboard nursing staff. Provide orientation and ongoing competency assessment for assigned staff. Completes staff evaluations and reviews with staff in a timely manner prior to deadlines. Utilizes counseling and disciplinary actions, as necessary, to ensure compliance to organizational standards and to ensure patient safety. Develops and posts Nursing schedules in a timely manner, and maintains any changes needed consistently Reviews requests for time off and overtime to ensure that work flow is maintained in an effective and efficient manner. Reviews and submits time sheets for staff on a regular basis; monitoring staff compliance with good time management and punching practices Demonstrated time management and multi-tasking skills. Maintains own professional competence through participation in continuing education and other appropriate learning experiences including current evidence-based practice, research and literature in nursing practice. Assist in the provision of staff in-services. Collaborates with the Nursing Director, to ensure that Nursing resources are available to meet needs of the Practice. Demonstrates excellence in both internal and external customer service. Understands and is able to effectively communicate HIPAA compliance, corporate compliance and client confidentiality. Ensures and/or remains in compliance with local, state, and federal regulation, i.e. DHHS HRSA and NYSDOH, and all accreditation standards (e.g. Joint Commission and NCQA-PCMH). Adheres to the National Patient Safety Goals as defined by the Joint Commission and Whitney M. Young Jr. Health Center. Completes other duties as assigned. RequirementsMINIMUM Qualifications:Graduate of an accredited Registered Nursing Program. Registered Nurse with a current New York State license. Five (5)years' nursing experience; Two (2)years' nursing supervisory experience; Effective verbal, written, and public speaking skills; CPR/BLS Certified; Experience coordinating and overseeing projects; Strong knowledge of EMR functionality and MS Office suite. PREFERRED Qualifications:Bachelor's Degree in Nursing. Labor relations experience; Bilingual (English/Spanish); One (1) two (2) years teaching experience; Experience working or living in the target community and knowledge of community resources.
