Job Description:
Overview The Registered Nurse Coordinates all external transfers in accordance with state and federal regulations, with one call convenience for referring physicians. Provides medical interpretation of diagnoses and specialized patient care needs, recognizing critical, emergent situations, connecting the referring physician with the appropriate UF Health physician as quickly as possible. Special attention is given to protocols for Trauma, STEMI, Stroke, Neurosurgical and Burn transfers. Serves as a hospital and physician resource, proficient in maintaining compliance with Access to Care Laws, while recording each event and timestamp. Provided clinical insights and overall level of care information to UF Health MD. The position is responsible for performing registration functions, including the creation or confirmation of a medical record and/or account number. Expedites and provides healthcare access through the accurate gathering of demographic, sponsorship or guardian data, insurance, financial, and statistical information from a variety of sources, i.e. physicians, physician office staff. Qualifications Minimum Education and Experience Requirements: Current RN license in state of Florida. BSN and professional nursing board certification preferred at time of hire. All nurses hired after April 30, 2014 without a BSN will be required to obtain a BSN within three years of hire. All nurses hired after June 30, 2011 without a professional nursing board certification will be required to obtain a professional nursing board certification after two years of hire or at the certification eligibility date for those certifications requiring more than two years of experience. Motor Vehicle Operator Designation: Employees in this position: Will not operate vehicles for an assigned business purpose NOTE: A frequent driver is defined as one who uses his/her personal or Shands automobile a) at least once daily, b) at least five individual trips per week or c) drives, on average, over 150 miles per week in the performance of his/her job. Please indicate the appropriate operator designation on the Request for Personnel (RFP) form at the time a RFP is submitted to post the position. Licensure/Certification/Registration: Licensed to practice nursing in the state of Florida.
