Bachelor's degree.

Ability to work outdoors regardless of inclement weather.

Ability to comfortably lead tours covering approximately 2 miles per day on all types of terrain.

Must be able to present information in front of a group.

Have previously demonstrated an ability to effectively collaborate with diverse groups in a professional setting.

Willingness to problem-solve issues to ensure participants have an overall seamless experience.

Preferred Qualifications Duties & Responsibilities

Group Leader - Main point of contact for participants during the program. Responsible for all aspects of the program while on-site, including welcoming participants upon arrival, ensuring that special needs/requests are met, apprising participants and hotel manager daily of any updates in the program schedule, handling minor emergencies, introducing instructional sessions/Topical presenters, and accompanying group on field trips associated with the program.

Assistant Group Leader - Serves as an assistant to support the group leader in the activities listed above. Some sessions will not require an Assistant Group Leader based on enrollment for the sessions.

Topical Presenters - A Topical Presenter is a seasoned authority on a Mackinaw Island subject to present to participants. They possess in-depth knowledge of its history, culture, and attractions. The presenter is well-versed in the island's unique blend of Victorian charm and natural beauty, offering insights into its iconic landmarks, such as Arch Rock, Mackinac Island State Park, and other themes to educate participants.

Academic & Professional Programs (APP) leads the planning, executing, and delivering of personal enrichment, noncredit, and non-degree experiences for lifelong learners. The unit works with multiple stakeholders, instructors, subject matter experts, academic departments, and content providers to deliver educational experiences.
