Job descriptionJob Title: Robotic Welding OperatorReports To: Welding ManagerFLSA Status: Non-ExemptApproved By: Human Resources DirectorSUMMARYA robotic welding operator is responsible for programming and operating the welding robot to complete a variety of welding tasks. This can include setting up the robot for a specific welding job, programming the robot to perform the necessary welds, and monitoring the robot to ensure that it is working properly.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESReads job specifications (e.g. blueprints, quality control plans and/or traveler notes) to determine type of welding and material requirements.Inspects and measures machined work pieces to verify conformance to specifications.Moves machine controls and guides to adjust machine.Remove rough spots from work pieces, using portable grinders, hand files, or scrapers.Chip or grind off excess weld, slag, or spatter, using hand scrapers or power chippers, portable grinders, or arc-cutting equipment.Performs basic MIG and TIG welding techniques as needed.Maintains company quality, efficiency, and productivity standards.Uses equipment and supplies to perform work in accordance with operational standards.Maintains accurate counts of parts; attaches labels or tags to finished part containers identifying customer, part number, quantity and shop order information.May perform other related duties or work at different workstations as production needs as assigned.SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIESThis job has no supervisory responsibilities.QUALIFICATIONSAn individual must be able to successfully pass an internal welding test and continue to complete training on site. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Associates must be able to successfully work independently and also as a team member. A good attendance history (reliability) and a demonstrated ability to learn new concepts and skills is a must. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to other employees of the organization.MATHEMATICAL SKILLSAbility to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
