This will include setting up the robot for a specific welding job; including attaching/mounting fixtures, selecting the correct program to achieve the shop order demands, and monitoring the robot to ensure that it is working properly. You need to clean the work area before and after work completion. Operators will need to always adhere to the safety guidelines. As a robotic operator, you should ensure that the outcome matches the quality and industry standards. Also, you should have good physical and mental stamina. In addition to this, you should be detail-oriented and have good problem-solving abilities. Your ability to meet deadlines and work in extreme weather conditions will be advantageous. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Read and interpret blueprints, have basic mechanical knowledge and use of hand tools, following instructions, and welding products.
  • Apply competencies in welding and utilize computer-based software to operate the Robotic Weld machine.
  • Calculate machine speed and feed ratios.
  • Stop machines to remove finished materials or to change tooling, set up, or material placement according to the required machine sequences.
  • Monitor machine operation and control panel display and compare readings to specifications to detect malfunctions.
  • Adjust machine feed and speed or adjust machine controls when automatic programing is faulty or if the machine malfunctions.
  • Confer with management and Robotic Technician to resolve machine malfunctions and production errors, and/or to obtain approval to continue production.
  • Employee is responsible for any rework or corrections as necessary to ensure a product meets specifications
  • Load and unload material manually depending on weight and size.
  • Clean machines, tooling, and parts
  • Mount, install, align, and secure tools, attachments, fixtures, and material on the machine using hand tools and precision measuring instruments.
  • Performs manual welding during robot weld cycle, if required
  • Observes tests on welded surfaces to evaluate weld quality and performance to specifications.
  • Removes rough spots from work piece, using portable grinder, hand file, or scraper.
  • Uses templates and other work aids to hold and align parts to ensure quality and consistency of parts produced.
  • Determines required equipment and welding method, applying knowledge of metallurgy, geometry, and welding techniques.
  • Meets the required utilization set by the supervisor/manager of the department.
  • Other duties may be assigned by Manager or Supervisor.

    Education and/or Experience
    • Six months to one-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
    • Requires a broad knowledge of welding. The welding requirements may vary widely depending on the job being offered, this could include that some positions may be on the job for entry-level positions. Higher-level welder positions may require years of formal education in vocational or technical schools or college Some welder positions require a general welding certification or a certificate in a specialty such as robotic welding.
    • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
    Language SkillsAbility to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Must have the ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.Reasoning AbilityMust have the ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule forms.Computer SkillsTo perform this job successfully, an individual should have basic computer skills to pull up and view blueprints and view and claim shop orders. Will need to be able to operator the robot by using the software of the machine.Other Skills

    • Ability to read and interpret blueprints
    • Ability to operate mig welder.
    • Ability to pass a weld test.
    • Must be able to pass Quality Assurance's internal test requirements for mild steel and galvanized welding.
