Job Description:

Robotics Researcher / Remote

This robotics start-up is on the brink of a groundbreaking journey. With their first product demo set for July, theyre gearing up to redefine the future of robotics with super-smart tech. And guess what? You can be part of this revolution, no matter where you are! We're proud to offer 100% remote work opportunities.

Backed by visionary founders who previously built a $5 billion company, theyre driven by a mission to transform domestic workflows through cutting-edge AI-driven technology. With a substantial funding round due, and a team of exceptional engineers already on board, theyre poised for rapid growth and impact.

The ultimate goal of their robot is to orchestrate complex activities seamlessly. Picture this: cooking, washing, cleaning, and more, all executed with precision and efficiency by their advanced robotics platform.

Day to day, youll work with a small team of scientists & engineers in developing and testing a combination of DeepRL and Supervised Learning policies on quadrupeds & humanoids!

If youd like to be part of this youll really need to know your stuff! Youll have proven experience in a lead role, applying RL techniques for robot learning, as well as applying ML on vision/speech/text data for classification/regression. (Some top-tier publications won't go amiss either)

This truly is a unique chance to be part of something big.

In the next couple of years, everyone in AI is going to be talking about this company. They could also be talking about your tech!

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop DeepRL policies that take vision, sound & proprioception as input and output joint angles/torques to solve various challenging tasks
  • Establish a framework for orchestrating multiple robot tasks, employing visual, auditory, and textual cues to recognize and execute tasks within a closed-loop environment.
  • Design policies capable of learning from teleoperation methods such as Learning from Demonstration (LfD) and Reinforcement Learning from Demonstrations (RLfD).
  • Develop policies leveraging large-scale internet videos showcasing task performances by humans or robots (LfV) to enhance learning.
  • Formulate policies through distillation or transfer learning techniques from a pre-existing model.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to junior scientists and engineers within the team, fostering their growth and development

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in applying RL techniques for robot learning (ideally 3+ years in a lead role)
  • Phd/Masters in Computer Science or related field
  • Publications in prominent AI/ML journals and/or work experience in a robotics company
  • Good understanding of sim to real gap and distribution shift in robotics

Compensation:

  • Competitive salary ranging from $250,000 to $350,000 annually, depending on experience
  • Equity compensation on top of salary described.
  • Comprehensive benefits package.
