Hanagita, AKJob Type: TemporaryJob Number: T24.26Department: Parks & RecreationOpening Date: 07/31/2024The City of Valdez Parks & Recreation Department is hiring Rockwall Attendants.Under direct supervision of a Recreation Coordinator or Rockwall Supervisor, this position oversees facility participants, assists with Rockwall maintenance and route setting, and participates as an assistant for Rockwall programming and classes. These job tasks require additional on the job specialized skills, training and certifications that are provided once hired. This position may supervise or monitor any age programs; this position is a safety sensitive position. This position will work various hours per week, to include, evening, weekends and holidays. This is a temporary, non-benefited position to work 15 hours or less per week. Desired start date is August 26, 2024.Physical requirement and work environment:
- Work environment is indoor in a Rockwall climbing environment.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Minimum 15 years or older.
- Experience in volunteerism or participation in recreation activities is desired.
- Obtain and maintain First Aid/CPR Certification within the first month of work.
- Obtain and maintain additional job specific training and certifications outlined per activity, program, facility or event.
Positions are open until filled, review of applicants begins August 14, 2024.Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide customer service to program patrons.
- May perform cleaning or general maintenance.
- Maintains order and discipline by enforcing rules, regulations and safety precautions and reports to supervisor.
- Works in a safe manner and reports unsafe activity and conditions, and intervenes when necessary.
- Acts as a team member maintaining a cooperative attitude with employees, supervisors and staff.
- Performs specific duties outlined per activity or event.
- Attend department and facility staff meetings and in-service trainings, as required.
- Maintains administrative records, to include, attendance, equipment, facility cleaning logs, program registration and program rosters.
- Maintains facility security.
- Must render aid, call 911, and stabilize injuries until assistance arrives.
- Enforces patron conduct protocols for immediate suspension or ejections for up to 24 hrs, as outlined in Rules of Conduct.
- Other related duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Other Characteristics:
- Demonstrates excellent communication skills with staff and patrons, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work effectively with various age groups.
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize tasks.
- Follows instructions-both verbal and written.
