Job Description:Kodi Collective is seeking a knowledgeable and detail-oriented Rolltender for our 3rd shift to ensure the efficient operation of our web offset printing press. The Rolltender will be integral in maintaining a continuous flow of production by preparing rolls of paper for printing, making necessary adjustments, and ensuring that all press materials meet job specifications.Key Responsibilities:Load Paper Rolls: Load rolls of paper onto the automatic splicing unit, ensuring correct positioning and securement.Inspect and Prepare: Inspect rolls of paper for blemishes, tears, or defects. Cut away damaged areas with a knife as needed and prepare paper for loading.Adjust and Operate: Make necessary adjustments to the auto splicer to ensure proper paper feeding and continuous press operation.Thread and Secure: Roll paper into position, insert the splicer shaft through the roll core, and secure the holding chucks to the shaft ends. Thread paper through press components.Adhesive Application: Apply adhesive strips to backup rolls and insert them onto the automatic splicer.Transport Rolls: Operate a mechanical truck to move rolls of paper to the press area if required.Maintenance and Cleaning: Clean the press and press components regularly to maintain working order and prepare flat stock for sheet-fed presses.Follow Specifications: Read and follow job specifications to determine materials needed for successful job completion and make adjustments as required.Qualifications:Knowledge: General knowledge of offset presswork, procedures, and materials. Ability to understand and follow job specifications.Experience: Previous experience in a manufacturing or printing environment preferred, with a focus on web offset presses and automatic splicers.Skills: Ability to make adjustments to the auto splicer and prepare paper for press operation. Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.Attention to Detail: Ability to inspect and assess paper quality, ensuring it meets production standards.Physical Stamina: Capability to handle and move large rolls of paper and work efficiently during overnight hours.Preferred Qualifications:Experience operating web offset printing presses and auto splicing units.Familiarity with press materials and requirements for different types of print jobs.Certification or experience operating mechanical trucks or lift trucks.Schedule: Sunday - Thursday 11pm-7am. Occasional mandatory overtime.Starting pay at a minimum of $18.00 an hour. Shift differential of $0.80/hour for 3rd shift.
