Job Summary:
Preventive roof maintenance to reduce roof leaks
Minor roof repair including minor flashing, gutter, and downspout repair.
Maintenance of windows, waterproofing, sealing building exteriors.
Inspect & clean roof surfaces while looking for defects, water-entry points & any damage
Perform other assigned duties
Comfort using ladders, lifts, scaffolding, working at heights, sometimes on a pitched surface.
Willingness to work outside in all weather, use of power tools, hand tools, and building materials.
Regularly stands, lifts, bends, stoops, lifts above shoulders and carries 50 pounds or more and at times may exceed 100 pounds.
The employee in this position may be required to work overtime after 5 pm and shift work when work cannot be accomplished during the regularly scheduled shift to include non-business hours when the university is closed and/or other events after 5 pm on weekdays, weekends, and holidays when management deems necessary. The ability to perform snow and ice removal tasks and respond at any time of the day or night when scheduled by management regardless of weather will be required.
Must use appropriate personal protective equipment as required (hard hat, vest, gloves, safety glasses, etc.). These items are provided and are not for personal use.
Must adhere to all safety requirements and promote work safety.
Working conditions are determined by the weather and materials used. All the work is outside and exposed to the elements throughout the year.
Requires working on roofs of varying heights and pitches.

Education & Experience
Position Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
High School/GED
Two to six years of prior successful work experience in the roofing or building trades.
Roofer III position requires experience in commercial type roofing to include EPDM, PVC, TPO, modified and clay tile roofing.
Post-secondary education may be substituted for experience; preference given to post-secondary education in the building/roofing trades.
Candidate position placement is dependent upon years of experience and department need.
Have before hire and maintain after hire, a valid driver's license. A valid driver's license must be maintained for the operation of an OSU vehicle, which is required in the performance of job duties as assigned.
Roof repair experience with built-up roof procedures, to include coal tar pitch and asphalt
Experience with torch down materials and modified bitumen
Experience with roof replacement using composition shingles, EPDM rubber, and single ply and other roll goods roof systems
Experience replacing and maintaining flashing, gutters, down spouts.
Maintain windows, water proofing and sealing building exteriors.
Ability to work on ladders, scaffolding or high-lift equipment.
Ability to follow instructions precisely and completely, have good communication skills, ability to work with very little supervision

Ability to become proficient in the use of AiM computerized maintenance Management System (CMMS) software and the use of mobile technology.

Preferred Qualifications:
Vocational/Technical training
Four years of prior successful work experience in roofing or building trade.
OR
Two years of post-secondary education in the building trades with two years of prior successful experience in roofing or building trade.
Roof repair experience with built-up roof procedures, including coal tar pitch and asphalt. Experience with roof replacement using composition shingles, EPDM rubber, and single-ply and other roll goods roof systems.
Experience replacing and maintaining flashing, gutters, downspouts.
