Peckham Inc. - ROOTS Program Support Staff
The Rising Out of the System (ROOTS) Program Support Staff position provides support for returning citizens enrolled in the Roots program and other program staff. Primary responsibilities will be assisting returning citizens in training, providing work preparedness classes, implementing behavioral techniques, monitoring and documenting client progress, providing reports and case notes for team members, collaborating with ROOTS Staff and other community supports, and providing first line intervention.
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
+ Monitor client progress by speaking with client, Employment Resource Specialist, ROOTS Coordinator, and work placements
+ Complete Monthly Employment Verifications for all working clients
+ Co-lead job readiness classes with other program staff as needed
+ Communicate effectively with program staff, supervisors, trainers, and other stakeholders
+ Maintain client files according MDOC and City of Lansing standards
+ Coordinate job fairs and employer visits for clients
+ Data entry into multiple systems (internal and external)
+ Assist clients with work clothes and tools shopping as needed
+ Provide direct feedback and training to clients regarding work readiness, work behaviors, and work skills
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
+ Maintain safe and clean work environment
+ Promote Peckham's vision values and services to all customers and stakeholders
+ Assist in maintaining organizational wide quality standards
+ Other related duties as assigned
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
None
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
+ High school diploma or GED
+ This position requires passing and maintaining federal and state security background checks
+ Must be able to demonstrate professional writing skills
+ Ability to maintain and keep strict confidentiality
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
+ 1 year working with returning citizens or other court involved individuals
+ Experience with Workday or other electronic file systems
+ Degree or education in vocational rehabilitation, social work, psychology, or a related field
+ Proficiency in or willing to learn Microsoft Office including Sharepoint
+ Certified Employment Support Professional, Mental Health First Aid certifications preferred, or able to obtain upon employment
+ Ability to communicate effectively in both verbal and written forms
+ Experience in mentoring, coaching, and giving feedback
+ Ability to manage time effectively
+ Ability to solve problems and work successfully on a team
