Campus Ministry is hiring for a student sacristan to assist with Masses celebrated in the Chapel of Christ the Teacher. This position is primarily for daily Masses on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 11:40 am until 12:40 pm. There will be other opportunities as well to support extra Masses and other events in the Chapel.
Core Duties
The Sacristan is responsible for the following duties:
* Set up sacred vessels prepare other needed items before Mass begins.
* If no lector is assigned to proclaim the readings at Mass, the sacristan is responsible for either reading or finding someone to do the readings.
* Assist, as needed, during Mass with taking up a collection on certain days, and helping count and secure the collection.
* Serve in a hospitality capacity to Mass attendees, especially for those who might not be familiar with the Chapel or require other support.
* Post-Mass cleanup duties, including the washing of the sacred vessels and returning the Chapel to its daily configuration.
* Other duties as assigned.

* Reverence for the Catholic Mass
* Be organized
* Be an effective communicator
* Be responsible
* Possess flexibility
* Be a self-starter
* Receive feedback in a positive manner
* Be willing to work with people from a diverse array of backgrounds
Preferred Qualifications
* Practicing Catholic
* Have served in some capacity as a lector, acolyte, or other ministerial position at Mass either on campus or in other locations
* Desire to grow in understanding of the Catholic Mass
Physical Requirements
* There are some minor physical requirements, such as being able to stand and carry some items. A sacristan must also be willing to read in public.
