Current job opportunities are posted here as they become available.Implement and manage an ongoing safety program by developing, training, and assisting in the establishment of plans, policies, and procedures for CareFlite'sSafety Management System (SMS).Identify, assess, and mitigate operational risks in air and ground medical transport, addressing hazards such as human factors (e.g., fatigue), mechanical risks, and environmental conditions. Implement strategies to minimize these risks.Conduct scheduled and unannounced inspections, surveys, and evaluations to ensure compliance with all aspects of the company's accident prevention and safety policies.Prepare evaluation and inspection reports with recommended corrective actions and submit them to the President and Vice President exercising control over the department of recommended corrective actions.Receive, review, and analyze accident briefs, safety-related publications, bulletins, reports, and directives from manufacturers and government agencies and recommend preventive actions.Assist in the conduct of accident/incident investigations for all divisions.Ensure safe practices and safe physical standards are considered in all operating procedures, manuals, and directives.Maintain a current safety publications and reference library on the CareFlite intranet.Monitor and maintain accurate Incident/Accident Reports, including a Master Log, and provide regular progress updates, safety reports, and safety studies to the President/CEO.Receive, process, and report corrective actions on Safety Concern/Hazard Reports.Ensure all Safety Concern/Hazard Reports are forwarded to the VP of Operations to maintain a Safety Concern/Hazard file and Master Log.Observe operations to detect and correct unsafe practices, ensuring that all concerns, hazards, incidents, and accidents are promptly reported to the appropriate departments.Maintain the CareFlite Emergency Response Plan (ERP)/Incident Action Plan. Review and rehearse the CareFlite Accident/Incident Action Plan (CAAP) at least once each calendar quarter. Results of the drills shall be debriefed with those individuals who have been reviewed during the CAAP drill. The CAAP drill results will then be documented and forwarded to the President/CEO, VP of Operations, Director of Communications, and other management personnel as necessary. Results will also be discussed at Safety Meeting and Director's Meeting.Accomplish regular safety inspections of areas of responsibility using the Base Safety Inspection Checklist (Forward the completed checklist and report of the inspection to the Responsible VP. The Director of Safety and Risk Management will provide reports of the inspections to the appropriate Program Director.Schedule and lead monthly Program Safety Committee Meetings for CareFlite personnel, and quarterly safety meetings for outside customers.Develop and monitor annual goals and responsibilities, including meeting attendance requirements, of the CareFlite Safety Program.Develop and maintain liaison with aviation safety management personnel at Helicopter Associations International (HAI), other safety-related organizations, manufacturers, government agencies, and other operating companies.Coordinate safety recommendations concerning all operations and divisions.Assist with research and coordination of all applications and regulations pertaining to aviation operations including waivers and restrictions, as they relate to safety.Monitor the compliance of the (FOD) policy.Maintain all safety records required by Federal, State, and Local regulations.Develop and maintain liaison with safety management personnel at American Ambulance Associations (AAA), Texas Ambulance Association (TAA), and/or other safety-related organizations, manufacturers, government agencies, and other operating companies.Monitor and report monthly results of Road Safety and participate in the development of programs and train staff related to the results of individual reports.Assist the President/CEO, CFO, and Vice Presidents with insurance renewal information.Control and Improve CareFlite's SMS and the SMS manual revisions.Assist in CareFlite's development and implementation of a Disaster Plan(s), business resumption and recovery preparation.QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:ExperienceProven experience in risk management and implementing safety programs in a medical transport environment.Minimum of 5 years of experience in EMS aviation within an FAA Part 121, 135, or 91 certificated entities.Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Aviation Management, Occupational Safety, Business Management, or a related field preferred or actively working towards completing a degree.Certifications and LicensesThorough understanding of FAA regulations, CAMTS, and DOT standards.Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or equivalent credential preferred.Other SkillsExperience with aviation safety programs such as Safety Management Systems (SMS), Flight Data Monitoring (FDM), FOQA, and Line Operations Safety Audits (LOSA).Knowledge of patient safety frameworks, including IHI and ECRI guidelines.Strong communication skills with the ability to train and lead teams in safety protocols.Proven ability to maintain a positive, solutions-driven mindset in challenging environments.Experience driving innovation and improving operational processes.Confident in engaging with diverse stakeholders, with the capability to provide constructive feedback.Demonstrated ability to hold others accountable to high-performance standards.Leadership experience with a focus on collaboration and team accountability.Ability to perform effectively under pressure and adapt to dynamic environments.PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTSMust work in both office and field environments, conducting on-site audits and inspections, with travel between CareFlite's air and ground transport locations as needed.May be exposed to extreme weather, noise, and vibrations, and must not be prone to air or motion sickness during flight inspections and ride-alongs.Capable of making decisions with moderate impact on immediate work.Able to understand, remember, and follow oral and written instructions.Must be able to communicate with customers and observe equipment operation.Perform tasks standing and walking for extended periods, occasionally up to 100% of the time.Ability to reach, bend, kneel, and demonstrate high manual dexterity.Work in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions.Frequently exposed to extreme temperatures and bloodborne pathogens.Must wear personal protective equipment for specific tasks or in designated areas.The statements contained in this position description reflect the general duties considered necessary to describe the principal functions of the job as identified and shall not be considered a detailed description of all the work requirements that may be inherent in the position. #J-18808-Ljbffr
