Must maintain a high visibility presence and prevent all illegal or inappropriate actions. The goal is to detect, deter, observe, and report.Essential Job FunctionsAct lawfully in direct defense of life or property; ensure compliance with all pertinent policies and procedures of Shelby County Schools, Federal, State laws and regulations, codes and ordinances, standards of quality and safety. Patrol building and perimeter regularly. Monitor and control access to Shelby County Schools facilities; watch alarm systems or video cameras and operate detecting/emergency equipment; inspect doors and windows to ensure locks are in place and operational. Respond to all calls such as: alarm, fire, distress, medical emergency, bomb threat, flooding, water discharge, elevator emergency, hazardous materials, inclement weather discharge, and other incidents. Apprehend criminals and evict violators. Conduct preliminary investigation and coordinate with local law enforcement authorities during the investigation. Ensure all logs and reports are clear and accurate including specific details of each incident and submitted in a timely manner daily. Maintain the department's stability and reputation by complying with legal requirements off and on duty; secure the use of all assigned protective equipment, restraint devices, and weapons. Utilize SCS Radio to stay in contact with security personnel and supervisors. Perform first aid or CPR. Perform other related duties as assigned or directed.Minimum QualificationsMust be 21 years of age, high school diploma or GED equivalent, must have a minimum of three (3) years of security experience. Must have or be able to obtain a State of Tennessee Armed Guard License. A valid driver's license is required.Degree Equivalency Formula:Bachelor's Degree= 4 years plus required years of experience.Master's Degree= 2 years plus required years of experience. Where Master's degrees are required, years for Bachelor's Degrees must be included.
